I mean, it’s a blog post. I missed what he’s selling. We all tell ourselves stories like this about our lives, and those stories are always a good part bullshit. So what?

He is selling himself and his services. He uses pageviews of blogspam like this to justify selling his services to create more blogspam. Poke around his site (hell, follow his own links on this submission) and this si readily apparent.

The reason this is bad is the same reason letting kids pick what to eat for every meal is bad: the entire MO OG HN being "stuff hackers find interesting" has been subverted by an advertising industry they've largely helped create.

Don't break the Prime Directive.

A community which won't fight to preserve itself and filter out garbage is doomed.

A Prime Directive only can be taken seriously when existential threats are minor.
