People will begin to intentionally destroy the environment to send you a message in return. This has been part of Trump's schtick over the last year.
This was going on long before Trump. Even back into the 1960's and 70's when people made fun of the crying Indian TV commercials.
Focus on the actual problem. When you make it political, you immediately lose half of your audience. This is the trap most activism falls into.
