I think geeks dress poorly because they don't care what other people think and/or don't care to impress with clothing.

Plus, geeks don't have time to wander around malls when there is hacking to be done.

If it wasn't for my wife, I would own only t-shirts and would likely wear my Akira shirt to work everyday.

I mentioned this in my post. Geeks are rude and arrogant in conversations for the same reasons. I don't think it's a net win for any of the parties involved.
