The first year of a new car design of any model of any brand having qc problems is actually so common that sometimes buyers will actively avoid them. Tesla buyers know what they're getting into, they've seen the issues model X has gone though. This is completely normal.

I’d be fascinated if you could find three examples of panel gaps needing 40% improvement over one year from a major manufacturer.

It would be interesting to know the number for brand new, high-volume assembly lines. Tesla has a much bigger problem than an existing carmaker bringing out a new model on an existing assembly line.

Ah. Well, brand new assembly lines being more difficult totally applies in the real world, even if it doesn't apply to the sub-sub-sub discussion you were having.
