> Andrew “Boz” Bosworth, a vice president at Facebook

~sigh~

"Boz" is the only person I regret introducing to programming. (I convinced him to attend the 4-H project where I taught BASIC)

Do you still teach? I ask because when I obtained my C.S. degree, the curriculum required that students take a course that focused on ethics, entitled: Computing, Society, & Professionalism [1.]. I think this would be hard to squeeze into a BASIC course, but discussing the implications of use/abuse of technology is valuable.

Not many students see their ethics course as anything more than a writing credit, with some resentment.

I agree. It feels forced. But exposure is important.

Would love to hear why you have such regrets?
