The Wikipedia-Article describes it aptly: "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht is a German board game (but not a German-style board game)".

And the name translates to "Don't get angry, man", so the game creator was quite self-aware here, too.

Try "Tac" for a new/spiced-up version of the game. It's really fun.

We did play it a lot as kids, meaning my parents, me and one of my brothers - it's pretty popular in German-speaking countries (well, for obvious reasons)^^
