Does anyone how good Scaleway actually is? Vultr seems pretty good for a 2.50€ instance which is often good for small things. 3€ also seems reasonable to me but cloud computing has thought me that price means nothing. Sometimes you get decent general performance for a good price (this seems to be the case with Vutlr, at least for me) and sometimes you get really bad general performance for a high price. Some vastly oversell hardware, others seem to have slow networks and don’t use the internal SSD so that everything goes through their internet network which makes the server unusable and unresponsive for quite a lot of things. I know that benchmarks don’t tell the whole story and provider A might be better for certain things but I’m more concerned about general performance.
It works. I run a pgsql db and a few Discord bots on one of the larger machines (larger for more RAM) and have nothing to complain about.
Pretty good actually, one of my debian instances is running full suite of security frameworks (beef/msf etc) with full db support and a mail server (postfix-iredadmin) as well. It is stable as a rock and is very reliable.
Scaleway uses weak atom cpus if you choose the x86 servers. Much weaker than DO, which is already pretty bad.
Does Scaleway offer a DC in USA? I only see Paris and Amsterdam which is great for western Europe but is inevitably 100 to 250 ms away from USA.
Not that it's critical for a hobby project, of course.
Yes, but looks like Scaleway servers are only Paris or Amsterdam. Not sure a few bucks a month savings is worth locating around the world.
