I normally try to be civil.

And I'm normally defending free speak including - of course in my opinion - Trump supporters and gamergate even if I don’t like Trump and don’t care about GG.

However anyone who glorifies nazism obviously either should be imprisoned (if necessary you need to make the missing laws [0], some European countries have them already) or sent to mandatory psychological follow ups the next few years in case they are just very dumb and uninformed and not necessarily evil.

I guess everyone who cares about history knows we fought a world war to stop this cancer.

I really don't get the downvotes.

This isn't just a right-leaning political group, these are neo-nazis, complete with the salute, the swastikas, the whole nine yards.

Why would anyone want to go to bat for them? We fought a war against this ideology. We've seen where it goes.

Hehe, I'll take my downvotes here with a smile. Being hated by actual nazis should be an honour to all of us.

I'm not downvoting, but I also won't upvote a comment which calls for imprisoning people for their speech or beliefs. I suspect some of the downvotes are a response to that suggestion.

In the US, it's not illegal to be a hateful, closed-minded asshole. The rest of us might shun you, but you shouldn't go to prison for it.

No. Actively planning genocide is conspiracy to genocide. Glorifying national socialism is wrong-headed, stupid, morally bankrupt, and flat-out evil, but it's not yet conspiracy to genocide.

That is a thin line if anything is.

When you're glorifying and trying to restart a regime that has killed a few million people and only didn't kill more people necause they failed that is veeery close IMO.

Agree. I'm not sure if I would stand for that in the long run...

Some people here seem to have a real hard-on for white power. They've been spree downvoting critical & informative commentary on the topic.

A bunch of the downvotes have nothing to do with liking white power. Rather, they have something to do with disliking calls for censorship, imprisonment, and mandatory psychological treatment. (The last one in particular makes me think of the USSR.)

Have my upvote. This concerns me as well and as much as I hate nazi ideology I'm fairly sure any special rules will be abused by politicians and media.

(For practical examples just look at how "hate speech" is thrown around to silence people who never argumented for hate.)

Eh, before i get too popular there are two sides the recent trainwreck threads.

Not everything has been very enlightened on either side, sadly.

I'm not commenting on the trainwreck that is the open commentary(ha), but specifically the spree downvotes on inane or just plain informative comments.

Haven't really seen activity like that in other threads unless they are bringing in a lot of out-of-site new users. But this low volume thread apparently has a queue of users ready to knock down people responding to an inquiry about what Daily Stormer is..

Huh. No you didnt misunderstand me I think I was just mistaken in what new users could do. Is there a known age threshold when voting kicks in?

Before undown was available my plan was to create a new sockpuppet every time my last one crossed 500.

That way I wouldn't have to worry about accidentally downvoting anyone.

The scary thing about this is there are a number of old matured accounts in good standing that seems to be defending nazis.

It might just be people with stronger/different principles than me though.
