It would be nice if they wrote "A new study hints at...." or something like this. When they write "Scientists say..." a lot of people will think that this is now widely accepted science.
The article starts "over the years, there have been numerous theories ... here's a new one." Then later, has the usual "other scientists say it's too soon to tell". The real problem here is the headline - but then, that's true of almost all headlines, scientific or not.
