Well Angular was initially released three years earlier than React was. Also, React is all about one-way data flows, and Angular is all about two-way bindings, so that's one noteable difference in goals.

Angular2 is not about two-way data binding. Angular2 is much more similar to React in that data flows downwards and events upwards.

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying. I didn't realize they had introduced significant changes to the conceptual model.
