Yes I am sure everyone indulges nihilism for a week when they realize our cultural mythologies of fixed morality, final judgement and eternal rewards are replaced by the inevitability of human life and indeed our entire planet disappearing...but anyone rational, especially "gifted", compartmentalizes it and moves on. But if you want to believe you are "gifted" because you read some Nietzsche, we can't stop you.

I would offer that such faux-crises are the result of a lack of scarcity, not intellectual capacity. No one who has to hunt for lunch has time to ponder the inevitable death of the sun.

We're just bored and tired. We rejected intangible cultural myths like religion and replaced them with vapid consumerism...now we're blue...boohoo. Maybe a nice war would help.
