I love this snippet from the comments, referring to the fact that 37signals is beholden to their customers.

"Everyone has a boss. There is no escape."

Their customers don't all want the same thing, so they can't "do what their customers want", even if they wanted to.

What they can't do is only whatever would cause massive amounts of customers to stop using their products.
