How does a $1B default judgement work when it's clear that a person does not have the money and will likely not be able to earn it even over their lifetime?
Perhaps it's a little like receiving multiple life sentences -- deliberate overkill. With the multiple life sentences even if per some great stroke of luck you get one reduced or time off for good behavior, the others will keep you imprisoned. Likewise with such a big default judgement even if he manages to acquire a lot of money he likely won't be able to do damage on the scale he's been doing again.
