Let's remember him as the man who opposed marriage equality and help to appoint George W. Bush president.

As someone who strongly supports marriage equality and read the full opinion when it came out, I was kinda dismayed to find the dissent a more convincing argument. Did anyone else experience this?

No, "good outcome, bad reasoning" is a pretty common opinion about Obergefell.

Did you mean "Yes"? Otherwise I can't understand what you're trying to say.

Sorry, yes, I meant "yes".

Are you one of those people who says "no, yeah, I mean, yeah" or "yeah, no, I mean, no" a lot? I am.

No, that's pretty common, and I am, yeah.

I rarely (I would say never but that would make me a fool) agreed with the man but his dissents were usually well written, worth reading and understanding. For better or worse, he represented the view point of many in America.

Intelligence is no excuse for harm. And Scalia harmed many, in a multitude of ways, over decades in the court, through his plausible misconstrual of the constitution and the law.

> the man who opposed marriage equality

You realize you're talking about one of the five justices who voted to overturn prop 8, right?

He did oppose marriage equity, but reducing a person to generalizations isn't as easy as people make it out to be. I won't be celebrating today.

If you can't be respectful of Scalia, be respectful of the fact that Ruth Bader Ginsburg lost a close personal friend today.

If you haven't already, would you mind reading about HN's approach to comments and site guidelines?

Good grief, those replies. Not a particularly pleasant comment but she is a comedian ...
