Delphi is very alive (I'm moderator in a Delphi forum). Think this way: Delphi/FreePascal have almost all the market for a Pascal-alike syntax for them alone.
With the C-family you have a lot of options.
Also: Nothing beat Delphi at doing RAD apps today.
