Yeah this is one of the reasons I don't like guns in general. Sure if they disagree they can demonstrate all they want, but bringing guns into the equation is just plain stupid and asks for trouble.

Do you think what these protesters are doing is equivalent to the American Revolution?

I don't think it's equivalent. But people took up arms to fight what they thought was an oppressive government. A lot of people thought the American Revolutionaries were radicals with bad ideas, including a third of the Colonists. The Revolutionaries happened to also support slavery as a racist institution, which is why a lot of slaves sided with the British including some of Washington's own.
