As a web user, I wish fewer developers thought like you did.
The web is better without JavaScript. I can't wait until it is looked down upon as hamfisted and passé, as Flash is now.

However I do believe JS will lose most of its popularity when web technology gets even faster. The slight performance boosts that JS gives you now - which is the predominant reason it's become so popular - won't matter as much; if things are so fast that you don't need an ajax architecture, you won't need front end JS frameworks.
Also, you didn't address any of OP's points about the separation of styling and function.
