George Zimmerman is the man who was subjected to a media-fueled outrage campaign after lethally defending himself against an oversized thug who was on top of him and pounding his skull into the ground. The campaign against him involved the president making public statements effectively condemning him and his due process rights were cast aside to sate the bloodlust of the mob. (According to the laws of the state of Florida, he should never have even faced a trial.) People were walking around wearing "Kill Zimmerman" shirts and he was made the enemy of asshats like you who don't need to know the facts of any matter before developing an opinion. The episode inspired one jackass, Matthew Apperson, to try to murder him.

All of this, mind you, was the result of someone daring to exercise his right to self-defense against someone who had black skin. If the dead thug hadn't had black skin, none of the ensuing lunacy would have followed.
