Wait until you have more than one page and want to change your menu. Then you won't believe in completely static HTML + CSS.
I used Jekyll for my blog, but ultimately it's just not worth the effort and definitely impractical.

It's compiled to static HTML, sure, but the templating is pretty powerful (downsides of Liquid aside). It's easy to make global changes with templates and CSS.
