zinssmeister··on TinyPNG: Lossy compression for PNG that preserves full transparency.
who the heck still cares about what IE6 does?!
zinssmeister··on MiLifePlus: Bluetooth Health Sensor For iPhone and Android
Reading this it sounds like the WakeMate team split up and Greg now has a new company that is trying this MiLife+
zinssmeister··on Am I Doing it Wrong?
yeah I'd write my own class/service to handle facebook/twitter/linkedin/etc.
zinssmeister··on Am I Doing it Wrong?
"class PostComment" that already sounds wrong if you think about it.
zinssmeister··on Startup Hackathon labels developers as 'resources'
Yeah I suppose if you are in the market for new friends this type of thing is great.
zinssmeister··on Startup Hackathon labels developers as 'resources'
I don't really understand why any serious Developer or Entrepreneur for that matter even goes to these type of events.
zinssmeister··on Twitter has a new logo
at one point a company should establish a logo that lasts longer than 21 months.
zinssmeister··on Paul Graham's Letter to YC Companies
I am not sure what will cool the investment climate more. The fact that facebook's IPO was a disaster or that PG sent this letter and recommends to be cautious.
zinssmeister··on Google buys Meebo
Why?
zinssmeister··on Dr. Koop and The Bubble
Yeah the game evolved quite a bit. Heck if a independent developer has a bit of a following and puts out an insanely great product, he can make more than double that revenue over night.
zinssmeister··on Dr. Koop and The Bubble
Simply put, back then there weren't enough eye balls looking at websites. Now, more than 10 years later, you see people use the web nearly nonstop. Back then they were right when they said "The Internet is going to change the world", but they got a bit too ahead of themselves. But maybe that's what it took to get to where we are today.
zinssmeister··on Apple reportedly in talks to acquire German HDTV maker Loewe
I grew up with a Loewe TV in our household. Loewe products are of a very high quality and easy on the eyes. exactly what Apple would look for, to get started with their TV business.

Side note: Apple has always had a love for German companies. Frog Design made the hardware cases back in the 80s and some of the iPhone parts are from a company in Germany.

zinssmeister··on Z Kombinator
do you regret calling it NCombinator? Seeing as you could have avoided slipping into this clone mindset or does it not really matter to you guys?
zinssmeister··on NCombinator
Surprised I didn't see a twitter link on their site, in case anyone else was looking: http://twitter.com/ncombinator
zinssmeister··on How Facebook Is Killing Itself
Title is a bit extreme for an article that is esentially pointing out some negative elements in part of the latest facebook features. I don't agree with the author and have not been using facebook less, because they added a ticker. I would even go as far as saying that because of these features facebook is NOT killing itself and rather is exploring ways to monetize and be a mature business. Can't say the same for twitter at the moment.
zinssmeister··on Facebook roadshow video
In every scenario I see facebook involved in the future of the internet. So, not to sound too much like a fanboy, but isn't it almost a sure bet to buy facebook stock? If they initially offer the shares for around $30 it seems like a no brainer to get in on that.
zinssmeister··on The Great California Exodus
what makes you think places outside of California are teaching kids the opposite?
zinssmeister··on The Great California Exodus
yup. The quality, size and price of housing here is so far the biggest shock to me. Basically Texas would give you a free 2000sqf house if you are a dual income household (just by saving the income tax and rent difference)
zinssmeister··on The Great California Exodus
having recently moved from Texas to Silicon Valley, and originally being from Europe, I must say that California is a beautiful place to live. But if I had kids I would strongly consider going back to Texas or some place else where I'd get proper housing for a fair price.

So I agree with at least part of this article. California is a suboptimal place for a young middle-class family.

zinssmeister··on Facebook acquires Instagram
Instagram has an awesome team and kept stealing eye-balls from facebook. It makes a lot of sense for facebook to get this team AND the product.
zinssmeister··on You should be using Google Analytics to log your startup's client-side errors
After reading yesterdays post about client-side error tracking I started looking into leveraging Google Analytics (because obviously it would be a fast way to get some small level of error reporting up and running). There is one thing I would have to add to this topic: We decided to track these error events in a separate Google Analytics profile, because there is a 500 events per session limit: http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/eventTra...
zinssmeister··on Gumroad is a year old, today.
I like this service more and more. The user experience is excellent and I appreciate the fact that it supports multiple languages. Very impressed with what Sahil did here in just 12 months.
zinssmeister··on Google Announces Project Glass
the video makes this technology look awesome. But I am still skeptical to how well it will actually work.
zinssmeister··on Y Combinator here I come
so true.
zinssmeister··on Y Combinator here I come
this job sounds like the worst of both worlds. A corporate job (you do what exactly you got hired to do) without the secure business model.
zinssmeister··on Backbone.Paginator – New Pagination Components For Backbone.js
very very useful. Was just about to write my own code for this, but now gonna look into using this. Thanks for considering all major variations of pagination.
zinssmeister··on Backbone.Paginator – New Pagination Components For Backbone.js
yes. Working for me.
zinssmeister··on ASP.NET MVC, Web API, Razor and Open Source
this is awesome news for the .Net community.
zinssmeister··on Startup struggle, Crashing a party to get into 500 Startups
old school hustle meets lean startup management. love it!
zinssmeister··on Looks Like Zynga Just Bought OMGPOP For $200 Million
Draw Something is everywhere and it's an awesome game. Good move for OMGPOP to cash out. It's a lot of money to throw at a studio that has basically only produced one hit game. Or maybe I am too old to recognize any of their other games ;)
