there is still a general "flair" inside a state. And living in San Francisco doesn't mean I don't spent any time outside of it. Napa, Carmel, LA, San Diego, etc. these are all places I've experience over weekend trips and of course they are all different and I take all those experiences to paint myself a picture of the state of california. Also Europe != California in size ;)
Pretty good points in this article. After moving from Germany to Dallas and then to San Francisco I can 100% agree with most of these reasons. California definitely feels more like a headache than Texas in terms of Rules, housing, general atmosphere. If I had kids I'd also pick Texas over California. Unless you know, I'd have several millions... then I'd buy a house in Atherton.
"A hard date that must be met. You need something to announce at a conference. A new tax law is in place. And so on." that's the only event I would label as a deadline, and these real deadlines don't happen often. The rest are artificial and could be goals rather than stressful deadlines...
Interesting thoughts on procrastination. Comparing a software developer that has passion for his craft with some high school student is probably not the right approach though either...
I found it strange to receive this as an email newsletter from apple today. Can't remember the last time Apple was promoting an existing product this way. Or maybe it's just weird because I am already an iPhone user and after reading this page/email I literally went: Umm, Duh.
Why wait for a response from the server? Just react at the off chance something does go wrong. That method of dealing with Ajax requests is what many call "fire and forget". Makes for a faster UI
> "I accept that they send me a confirmation e-mail to see if it's a genuine user. But after that, it's all spam." It's ok you feel that way, but not everyone thinks like you.
No doubt this is the future of fast food. Been wondering for years why a big player like McDonalds wouldn't come out with such an automated process and came to the conclusion it must have something to do with the economic consequences this would bring along. The amount of minimum wage jobs this would destroy, would have a very devastating impact on the U.S. economy.
I've always believed that working remote is the future. The next step in the evolution of how we as humans do work. It's still early and the next decade will bring improved tools.
interesting. I guess we can't really exclude the possibility, that this fossilized diatom cam from earth, traveled through space and came back to earth?
blaming the "rich" techies for the over priced rental market in SF and the rest of the Bay Area is terrible. The real reason rent is sky high in my opinion is because SF is acting like a small city when it's not. Real estate development is pretty much kept flat. Yes they are adding units but if you look at the expected growth, we will stay flat at best. This results in bidding wars for rentals and real estate purchases, because frankly there isn't enough for everyone. Builders would like to buy up more space and crank out energy efficient/modern housing, but no sir, no permit for you.
