Something like `(uuid "550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000")` can't be carried around as data whereas `#uuid "550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000"` can be.

Think about data interchange between Clojure & ClojureScript.

Initially (1.2.x and older), all vars in Clojure were `dynamic` as in they could be rebound thread-locally. In Clojure 1.3, vars need the `:dynamic` metadata to be made dynamic. To ease the transition, in pre 1.3.0 Clojure, vars with earmuffs were automatically declared as dynamic with an warning. That behaviour is now gone in 1.3.0 and thus the new warning.

That ClojureScript is in no way related to this one. The former used to translate a subset of Clojure to JavaScript, the latter is a full-blown implementation of Clojure which targets JavaScript as the platform (as opposed to the JVM).

Sure, but Gevent monkey patches the stdlib and lets the programmer write code in a synchronous fashion which actually gets executed asynchronously. That, IMHO is a big win since it's easy to get stuck in the callback hell in Tornado. I have used Tornado in production and it's an awesome library/framework/server but things do get complicated when the app becomes complex.

ParenScript (or CoffeeScript) is not the same as ClojureScript. ParenScript "transforms" a subset of CL to JS, while ClojureScript is a full-fledged target runtime for Clojure. For example, something like

  (parenscript:ps (defun square (x) (* x n))) ;; [sic]
will compile fine to "incorrect" JS code. Try doing the same in ClojureScript, you'll get an error/warning from the compiler. This applies to CoffeeScript, etc. as well.

Update - To summarise, ClojureScript is to Clojure what ABCL is to Common Lisp.

That ClojureScript is the (mostly experimental & now obsolete) work done by Chris Houser quite some time back. These two are not the same thing.
