zackify··on Code and Let Live
Yeah I can make an lxc container called "ai" that has an ssh read key and then a few pre cloned projects. When I want to work I can clone and start it then get the same effect on my own hardware and for free. Just need a small little wrapper to make this a bit more streamlined
zackify··on Code and Let Live
I wonder the same thing. What’s so different than your own vps and using lxd to create a container. Make two bash aliases and wow you can go in and out quickly and recreate it with one command.
zackify··on On privacy and control
Same. No issues on any apps for me.
zackify··on OpenAI's cash burn will be one of the big bubble questions of 2026
Surprised they burn cash advertising on Reddit to “make a mini me” version of yourself where you hold your body in your hand. What a waste of AI lol
zackify··on JSDoc is TypeScript
5 years ago I was at a meet up and the guy talking was saying how if you don't like typescript these jsdocs are the way to go. Had to explain to my employer attending that it is still typescript. Didn't seem to believe me and was super against typescript but not jsdocs lol
zackify··on Litestream VFS
Correct in this case if you wanted many small edge nodes on fly.io or elsewhere to do read queries
zackify··on SQLite JSON at full index speed using generated columns
I love jsonb support in sqlite.

Particularly with drizzle, it means I can use sqlite on device with expo-sqlite, and store our data format in a single field, with very little syntax, and the schema and queries all become fully type safe.

Also being able to use the same light orm abstraction server side with bun:sqlite is huge.

zackify··on Litestream VFS
The litestream one, from the litestream github releases page!
zackify··on Litestream VFS
This is great... just got it working using bun:sqlite! Just need to have "LITESTREAM_REPLICA_URL" and the key id and secret env vars set when running the script.

  import { Database } from "bun:sqlite";
  Database.setCustomSQLite("/opt/homebrew/opt/sqlite/lib/libsqlite3.dylib");

  // Load extension first with a temp db
  const temp = new Database(":memory:");
  temp.loadExtension("/path/to/litestream.dylib", "sqlite3_litestreamvfs_init");

  // Now open with litestream VFS
  const db = new Database("file:my.db?vfs=litestream");

  const fruits = db.query("SELECT * FROM fruits;").all();
  console.log(fruits);
zackify··on Litestream VFS
For macos users,

brew install sqlite3, then change the bottom part:

  /opt/homebrew/opt/sqlite/bin/sqlite3
  .load litestream sqlite3_litestreamvfs_init
  .open file:///my.db?vfs=litestream
you have to manually pass in the init function name
zackify··on Litestream VFS
so how would i connect from a separate machine, i can't figure out from the post or release notes or current litestream website docs, how would i use the extension to do that?

Edit:

need to set LITESTREAM_ACCESS_KEY_ID, LITESTREAM_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY, LITESTREAM_REPLICA_URL

then the module works

zackify··on GitHub: Git operation failures
this is actually the 5-6th time this month. actions have been degraded constantly now push and pull breaks back to back

The open internet is done. Monopolies control everything.

We have an iOS app in the store for 3 years and out of the blue apple is demanding we provide new licenses that don’t exist and threaten to kick our app out. Nothing changed in 3 years.

Getting sick of these companies able to have this level of control over everything, you can’t even self host anymore apparently.

zackify··on Stripe Launches L1 Blockchain: Tempo
100% why am I going to use a permissionless blockchain….

To get coins fully controlled by circle.

On a chain with low fees controlled by Coinbase (base) for example.

In this case this new L1 won’t even be distributed by anyone initially too.

It all seems like a Ponzi scheme or small utility for international users. Otherwise I don’t know why you’d trust these centralized authorities.

What stops someone at circle deciding to issue more usdc without real dollar backing

Is this thanks to everyone thinking they can code now and not understanding what they’re doing.

zackify··on How to install TrueNAS on a Raspberry Pi
TrueNAS has been so annoying to use for me.

I really wish I just used something else or raw Ubuntu server.

The Time Machine backup feature corrupts itself.

You can’t have home assistant and Time Machine backups on at the same time. It just feels like a janky UI that has no polish too.

Yeah exactly.

I’ve been using Tailscale ssh to a raspberry pi.

With Termix on iOS.

I can do all the same stuff on my own. Termix is awesome (I’m not affiliated)
