I am trying super hard to give the tools to validate everything to AI.
I finish by opening a draft PR and then I go through doing a deep review myself.
If I didn't already have 10+ years experience, it would be hard to learn and not atrophy with easy shortcuts being so available.
You still need people who know stuff in detail and can own the code... for now
Even if I'm reviewing more, I built the feature without even opening my editor.
My workflow is:
1. Plan mode 2. Read thoroughly or skim if its an easy task 3. /draft command that puts a draft PR on github 4. Review closely then send to team
I live in the terminal. Before AI I always preferred it so it suits me
Now I just throw honey into water on my runs.
It doesn't upset me even though maurten does feel a little better, its worth saving tons of money over buying maurten
But functionally, like you I find Ubuntu server fine. I run apt update and upgrade a couple times a year and its local only with tailscale access.
I find these immutable OS's really nice on laptop or desktop. The home directory is the only thing that can be written to so the OS is supposed to be more stable and can't break easily
I get openai team plan at work.
Claude enterprise too.
I have openrouter for myself.
I use minimax 2.7. Kimi 2.6. And gpt 5.5 and opus 4.7. I can toggle between them in an open source interface that's how I stay able to not be trapped.
Minimax is so cheap and for personal stuff it works fine. So I'm always toggling between the nre releases
Just shows I'm the Dropbox commentator. I have what exe provides on my own and am shocked by the value these abstractions provide everyone else!! One off containers on my own hardware spin up spin down run async agents, etc, tailscale auth, team can share or connect easily by name.
1.6x works surprisingly well now, that wasnt the case a couple years ago
Really liking pi and glm 5.1!
After paying the full cost and being stuck on old software that had a promise of having the hardware required for it
Just tmux and use that.
Soon if they drop -p people will just vibe code in 5 minutes a way to type inside it remotely similar to their own built in remote access tool. Seems like a losing game from anthropics side
Cost savings are insane and the speed of latest amd epycs are miles ahead of the default ci instances on github and other places.
Install LXC on a server Start a container called dev
Add 25 lines to your zshrc
I say dev1 and it spins up fresh
Dev2 copies from that and is a fresh container.
Auto uses tmux.
Claude code with bypass mode. Do anything. Close laptop. Come back later.
Even have a lock mode blocking all internet access except to the llm provider.
Ssh key agent forwarding through 1pw CLI so it can't even push to github unless I reconnect.
I feel like the Dropbox quote years ago but its a lot easier than people think, and its weird to delegate to another service something that a dev should already understand how to do.
All I have to do to have the same issue to PR flow is open dev1. Open Claude. Have GH CLI and task system MCP.
Do /loop watch for new ticket assigned to me and complete it and push it up.
