As an engineer what bugs me most in this space is the terrible email related protocols. They are broken and burdensome to deal with. I wish someone would attack that problem.
As a user what bugs me are the terrible native apps for email. I think this stems from the previous problem, few people innovate in email because SMTP and IMAP etc are terrible protocols. It explains why there aren't a thousand mail clients in the way there once were a thousand Twitter clients.
I don't know if Threadable has any plans of going beyond managing lists but those problems ^^^ really need solutions.
In practice I have learned that being CPU bound will turn things around faster than paging and thus for things that involve a sufficiently high number for n I prefer to avoid hashes and O(1) "speed ups." The less I store in memory the better, especially on servers that handle lots of requests simultaneously, at least for servers that aren't meant to be a memory store like memcache or redis.
Not at all.
Small nitpick, but wouldn't the use of the words "evidence for" instead of "proof of" have been better? Not that I am in any way trying to take anything away from the discovery. Just from a science perspective, the word "proof" has always bugged me.
The guy was obviously qualified for the job and they still rejected him because he got nervous. He had done well except for one and they said no. I guess if you have so many people interviewing where you have some that did better it makes sense, but it's silly and personally I don't plan at working at companies that interview this way.
Google isn't special. They're just a well known consumer brand, and all that marketing is what's got into people's brains. Coke is just sugar water, it doesn't make you cool. It just puts fructose corn syrup into your stomach. You wanna be the person that has to obey Larry Page's whims and integrate Google+ into more places users don't want it?
I like Amazon video quite a bit actually.
It's a cool blog post but that code isn't near readable to me. Long lines in a tiny rectangle hidden behind horizontal scroll don't make it any easier. It looks like a box of arbitrary characters stuffed into as little space as possible.
Although the raw link is a little easier on the eyes:

Whoever named that method POSIXct needs to like leave the job of naming things to other people maybe.
pgrep -lf -U root | grep processname
or:
ps aux | grep root | grep processname
Another question: if a bunch of well trained delta force operatives went up against an equally numbered random thugs where delta force had the fisher price thing and the thugs had whatever you said was better, who would win you think?
I don't get some people's attitudes when it comes to guns.

I take a picture with my phone? It's on dropbox. My wife takes a picture? It's on dropbox. I take a screenshot on my PC? It's on dropbox.
I even wrote a little silly bookmark tool to use the dropbox API.
Dropbox is amazing. It's more than just about the price.
Because the words are in the general sense and I'd like someone to show me why "man", as it was originally phrased, needs any kind of redemption.
Maybe we don't need a tailbone or some troublesome cancer causing genes, but fixing bad genes isn't redemption. It's a judgement-free mechanical fix for a machine, a biological equivalent to the flipping of bits in programming code. I'm not redeeming my code by making it more optimal when I fix a bug. So why would changing our genes be redemption?
And now I take issue with your use of pronouns. Marx never knew me, and neither do you.
> His real error is materialism: man, in fact, is not merely the product of economic conditions, and it is not possible to redeem him purely from the outside by creating a favourable economic environment."
That's going to segue (thanks for the spelling check davidw) obviously into some religions thing about the soul or something. And I take issue with having to be redeemed. I do not need to be redeemed.
