yesbut··on Atuin – Magical Shell History
I'd never sync my shell history with a third party. The self-hosting option looks interesting, but anyone comfortable with syncing their shell history with a third party is severely lacking basic privacy literacy and underestimates the sensitivity of command history.
yesbut··on Dance Captcha
No

yesbut··on From Philosophy to Power: The Misuse of René Girard by Peter Thiel, J.D. Vance
"no, I mean I have an income that insulates me from politics regardless so please don't make me think about the poors." - OP probably.
yesbut··on From Philosophy to Power: The Misuse of René Girard by Peter Thiel, J.D. Vance
thiel and vance are not people that anyone should look to for any type of philosophical wisdom.
yesbut··on It’s So Over, We’re So Back: Doomer Techno-Optimism (2024)
We'd all be better off if we just ignored the Doomer Techno-Optimism prophets and their visions of the future.

For one, they want to establish "Constitution Free Zones" outside of democratic control of nation states. All to create tax havens and increase their own profits.

These are scam artists. Reject them and their self-serving "vision of the future". You all are being had because you refuse to read history books.

yesbut··on Remote workers more likely to start their own business
The number of wfh workers starting their own business is tiny. This is more anti-wfh propaganda. Don't fall for it.
yesbut··on Data manipulations alleged in study that paved way for Microsoft's quantum chip
It is all a scam. The research side is interesting for what it is, but the idea of having any type of useful "quantum computer" is sci-fi make believe. The grifters will keep stringing investors and these large corporations along for as long as possible. Total waste of resources.

yesbut··on GitDroid: A third party Android app manager for apps uploaded to GitHub releases

yesbut··on All four major web browsers are about to lose 80% of their funding
Like the Mondragon Corporation in Spain.

https://www.mondragon-corporation.com/en/about-us/

> MONDRAGON is the outcome of a cooperative business project launched in 1956. Its mission is encapsulated in its Corporate Values: intercooperation, grassroots management, corporate social responsibility, innovation, democratic organisation, education and social transformation, among others.

> Organisationally, MONDRAGON is divided into four areas: Finance, Industry, Retail and Knowledge. It currently consists of 81 separate, self-governing cooperatives, around 70,000 people and 12 R&D centres, occupying first place in the Basque business ranking and tenth in Spain.

Or Scop-TI in France, a large worker cooperative in the IT and engineering sector.

This isn't anything new:

yesbut··on All four major web browsers are about to lose 80% of their funding
Good. Perfect time for Mozilla to convert into a democratically controlled worker-owned company and cut off the parasite C team.

yesbut··on Y Combinator Funded AI Firm's 'Stop Hiring Humans' Billboard Sparks Outrage
> The company, which is backed by startup accelerator Y-Combinator, sells what it calls “AI Employees” or “Artisans.” What the company actually sells is software designed to assist with customer service and sales workflow.

More fancy chat AI bots.

yesbut··on Wordware raised $30M to build the operating system for AI development
It's going to end up just being another Linux distro with a few cli tools.
yesbut··on DOJ will push Google to sell off Chrome
This is just the corporate captured government pretending to do something significant as a performative act for an ignorant public.

The DOJ knows this is pointless. The DOJ knows where Google's profits come from.

The DOJ is pretending that thr public still thinks about the internet in terms of Microsoft/Internet Explorer bundling.

Shame on you DOJ for wasting everyone's time and money.

yesbut··on It's time to replace TCP in the datacenter (2023)
Another thing not worth investing time into for the rest of our careers. TCP will be around for decades to come.
