Yeah seriously. Just a worse version of the bridge. IMO the cart is leading the horse on this one. Might be more convenient for their dev team to just have a web codebase (though I’d argue if they took the time to transition their web codebase to react native web they’d see the same benefit), but it will definitely hurt UX.
That's not true though. Every connected component subscribed to a particular slice of state updates...not every connected component, e.g. `useSelector(appState => !!appState.someThing)` only causes a re-render of the subscribed component if the value of `!!appState.someThing` changes. Unless that's what you meant in the first place but your tone and talk of memoization seemed to imply otherwise.
My takeaway from these comments is that people either don’t care or literally don’t know how context works but are talking about how it’s better than redux lol
Right but every time that context changes it triggers a re-render of every child component regardless of if it’s consuming that bit of state or not. These comments are making me really question other peoples’ understanding of what I thought were kind of basic principles of how react, context, or redux work…
Sorry but what? What do you do when a parent component needs access to a particular slice of state? Refactor the entire tree? What about deeply nested components? Prop drill 100 levels deep?
Almost all of the successful “entrepreneurs” I know are just rich kids who had the time and space to figure things out over the course of 10-15 years after college without worrying about money. Same thing for all of the successful people I know who work in media. It’s a racket.
It is a little fishy that Amazon isn’t an available seller when you’re logged out. Makes me think they are doing that in name only and assuming the risk and the shipping for the premium. Wonder if other products are like this.
I didn’t miss the point. It was just soon enough after it happened that I figured they lacked the context about why it was posted, so they thought it was just meant to be a standalone article about this issue and not an attempt to draw a line between it and his death.
The gym is a great example of survivorship bias. Sure, there are people who look “out of shape” and don’t necessarily see huge aesthetic results from it but continue going, but a lot of the people who stick with it are the ones whose bodies respond really positively to training.
They posted it because he collapsed and died during extra time at the Argentina Netherlands match the day after he wrote it. Lots of theories and potential explanations for what actually happened as he’s been talking about not feeling well recently, but you can’t really blame people for being suspicious after what happened with SA and Khashoggi.
His brother posted a video saying he believes he was killed, but he was obviously and understandably in a really emotional state. To add to this, his brother is gay and Grant wore a rainbow shirt (as many other prominent journalist have done during this World Cup to protest the Qatari stance on LGBTQ rights) to a match and was told he couldn’t enter the stadium.
One reason is web scraping. Twitter used to have sequential IDs that made it easy to tell how many users they’d added over a period of time, even after they were public.
Russia is a terrorist state oligarchy with a murderous dictator. No one is actually going to kill this guy in the US. He will obviously get threats, and then reboot with a new $500mm seed round for some new scam from Marc Andreessen in a few years. Nevermind that's Adam Neumann.
Because you have a 2.5% mortgage and your monthly payment is still smaller than than 300k house at current rates. This is going to be the main issue to me. People are just going to sit in all these houses with bloated prices because the rates they pay are so low, and prices are going to have a very hard time returning to anything close to what they were with inventory so low.
Yeah I dunno, I mostly mean highway driving. Like I’ll go ~20 over the speed limit (basically the flow of traffic in jersey haha), for an hour and still get there the same time as my original ETA.
I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with google maps recently because its time estimates are just way, way off.
My guess is that this has something to do with their ML assuming I will exceed the speed limit by X MPH based on my driving history or the flow of traffic or something, but it’s insane to go 80 on a 65 MPH highway and somehow arrive several minutes later than the original estimate.
This makes no sense. Owning a home is not paying rent. Paying a mortgage comes with the expectation of accruing equity in the home. Renting does not. You’re comparing renting with being a landlord.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. No matter what, you can still have a great life and be a great father, though. Maybe not as tidy, but still beautiful.
