yamazakiwi··on DOJ sues SpaceX for discriminating against asylees and refugees in hiring
I've redacted my statement since it is no longer relevant, interesting data. I wonder how refugees would vote comparitively to immigrants, one would assume it would be close but I could be entirely wrong.

>But if they can't do all the same things, why not just only hire permanent residents?

I'm sure you can think of a few reasons if you consider it.

I Love Shadows of Amn but I'd personally rather play Icewind Dale :)
yamazakiwi··on Job Corps: free, residential training and education for low-income young adults
None of us wanted to live in a dorm setting or enjoyed showing up on time.

Most are in to get away from their native location or to get money for school/GI Bill, not because the idea of military is more appealing than being a civilian.

yamazakiwi··on Energy Jobs Have Increased in Nearly Every County in America
> there are fewer white working class liberals (AKA blue collar) than there were in the past.

This could be because of increased migration into the US and a billion other reasons that have nothing to do with nationalism.

>Also, unlike the capitalist and professional classes, the nationalists are often OK with strong safety nets, as long as these benefits are limited to their tribe. They are really neither conservative or liberal. There are other political dimensions involved.

Agreed

I meant to imply that mp3 players were too expensive "at the time", compared to a cd player.

I was not saying other mp3 players were more expensive than ipods. I could have been more clear there. Mp3 Players were more expensive than CD Players thus adoption was slow in the beginning, but the popularity of the ipod changed the mindset surrounding digital media players in general.

Once the ipod exploded in popularity many more mp3 players were sold to those who couldn't afford apple prices.

The previous poster was saying that EVERY kid had an mp3 player before ipods blew up where the opposite is true.

There are tons of working class liberals. I'm tired of people implying working class people are all conservatives. These people are always framing arguments equating the working class to everyone with staunch conservative political views.
yamazakiwi··on Nobody ever paid me for code
It could be location based but you are wrong for most areas on planet earth. Many kids went from cd player to ipod because mp3 players were too expensive as a replacement for something you had that already solution for. Convincing your parents you needed more songs was laughable at the time. If anything, more children got mp3 players AFTER the iPod became popular. The excuse for a better product was more palatable due to the iPod's popularity.
yamazakiwi··on Nobody ever paid me for code
Every kid did not have an mp3 player. I saw a wide variety of music players. No single product came close to market domination until the ipod. Kid's were all using different products like mini-disc players, cd players, mp3 players, walkmans, it was all over the place.

Your feedback is opinionated, which is fine, but it really depends on who is reading the content.

I enjoy some personality thrown into technical writing. Most of it is so soulless.

Most places in the valley already have Google Fiber and it's still expanding, if that's valuable information to you.
yamazakiwi··on Marijuana addiction: those struggling often face skepticism
I don't believe I would be surprised and that doesn't change the fact that this is an egregious oversimplification.

What if you remember your trauma but it doesn't effect you negatively and you are still easily addicted.

There are many ways to be addicted and not all of them are trauma related. Modern psychology relies heavily on diagnosing trauma, and connecting trauma to existing behavioral issues because it is useful.

We've got Tiktokers thinking they all have undiagnosed trauma.

You could explain why it matters, instead of complaining that people don't understand. Delta-8 is also psychoactive and not well known so it's easy to mix up.

CBD has been legal for a while and is completely different than THC products so it shouldn't be compared.

Stating Delta-9 is legal, not Delta-8, is not that big of a difference. If you think it is, you should talk about why it matters because your attitude obviously hasn't worked thus far for dealing with people who just don't understand. Maybe, you're not concerned with people understanding as much as you state.

Most people don't know about Delta-9 yet. It was brought to my attention when I saw a video about a business selling Delta-9 drinks in an illegal state.

I'm confused why you are confused.
yamazakiwi··on Do Unforgettable Work
Just be yourself is only good advice if you are an exceptional person. A lot of people's authentic selves are not efficient for their desired outcomes. It makes sense to hold yourself to a higher standard when you run into incredible challenge. Taking inspiration from others or a "super" version of yourself can be useful. Your authentic self also changes over time.

In interpersonal relationships it is better to be authentic, but I don't believe maximizing for authenticity has much value in business.

yamazakiwi··on Medicaid Could Save $2.6B Within a Year If Just 1% of Recipients Quit Smoking
I should be more specific. I smoked menthols and whenever I smelled a Marlboro red it made me gag.
yamazakiwi··on Medicaid Could Save $2.6B Within a Year If Just 1% of Recipients Quit Smoking
>To you and me, we associate smoking with health problems so subconsciously we hate it a lot. We also never feel the "good parts" of smoking so our minds are entirely biased into the negative aspects of it.

No one feels the good parts of smoking before they start and most people find the smell unappealing.

>Meanwhile, a smoker grew up without caring about the health damages and they consider it fine to smoke and the cost is acceptable for the "good" a cigarette can provide.

I'm not saying you're alluding to this but just to be clear, this is who a smoker develops into, the person was not some sort of pre-smoker who's dispositioned to like things that are bad for their health which would allow them to tolerate the smell. The tolerance is built.

yamazakiwi··on Medicaid Could Save $2.6B Within a Year If Just 1% of Recipients Quit Smoking
I used to measure how enjoyable a cigarette was based on what I was accompanying it with or where I was.

A cigarette with coffee in the morning is untouchable.

My rule for myself when I quit was I can only smoke on vacations, so I still look forward to that combination in the future.
