My opinions may not always be popular, but they’re usually right, founded on inconvenient truths I’ve observed about our society.
Help me get to 1000 karma and I’ll stop posting forever.
You agree to a terms and service and if you violate them you will be punished by having your car blacklisted and blocked from superchargers, updates, service at Tesla dealerships, warranty void, etc. Accept it.
And if it ever did become a serious threat, we could just resort to blatant racism and stereotyping against foreign workers and that is enough to kick the can down the road a bit longer. Many companies simply will not hire offshore Indians because they believe they do inferior work compared to Americans, and Chinese are corporate spies/leakers.
Usually though it’s not enforceable aside from threats of blacklisting you from being able to order new vehicles. In practice I’m not sure how true that actually is if you have deep pockets.
The only interesting thing about Tesla doing this is that not only could they blacklist you, but they could blacklist the vehicle too to prevent it from getting service or even software updates, discouraging any buyers from buying it. Maybe ban it from superchargers. Tesla is very petty. Perhaps this will become common practice as cars get more connected to central services.
At some point the term “hacker” was co-opted to mean anyone writing code. These Silicon Valley tech entrepreneurs aren’t really “hackers”: they’re businessmen with some software engineering skills. But that doesn’t sound nearly as edgy or cool as calling yourself a hacker.
If you’ve done law school, that should be good enough. No need to pin everything on one exam.
You are not their problem.
I will absolutely not keep a phone any longer just because the battery can be replaced.
There’s no good decision to make here.
