xiconfjs··on Show HN: Colorvote.io – ranking all sRGB web colors by popularity
Thanks, I clicked about 50 to 100 times and waiting for a final result...
xiconfjs··on ASCIIToSVG – Create beautiful SVG renderings of ASCII diagrams
owner replied with "Ask GitHub to support insertion of SVG into their Markdown". Perhaps "screenshots" of the output in jpg or png are fine, too.
xiconfjs··on Owncast is a self-hosted live video and web chat server
therefore renting a dedicated server from a provider with 100TB traffic included is still useful - there are many of them [1] around ~70€/month

xiconfjs··on Belgian ISP under 250 Gbps DDoS for days on end
using peeringdb gives most of the time better view into the IX connections and their bandwidth. -> https://www.peeringdb.com/asn/9031
xiconfjs··on Ultra fast Thunderbolt NAS with Apple M1 and Linux
this blog uses webp as image format without a fallback option. Had to switch to Firefox because Safari wouldn't display the pictures.
xiconfjs··on Netcat – All you need to know
oh swaks seems nice. Thanks
xiconfjs··on Grafana 8.0
Are there any new development for replacing our Cacti weathermap? Would love to bury it forever.
xiconfjs··on Calibre – E-Book Management
I'm using this for my 80k+ documentation library and couldn't be happier - so easy to share your library with other users.

Kudos for your project.

xiconfjs··on Why do they still make car alarms? (2015)
Mercedes-Benz has this feature for sure and it sucks. Usually it‘s only used by old people and dumbasses here in Germany.
xiconfjs··on Thunderbird 78.x is great but has issues for advanced PGP users
I‘m using it very often in our conpany. The TB78 implementation would break many workflows and security aspects.
xiconfjs··on New in Thunderbird 78
on macOS 10.15.7 - since the thunderbird update to v78 - the folder view is lagging while scrolling. The rest of the interface is butter-smooth. Me sad :(
xiconfjs··on XFS File-System with Linux 5.10 Punts Year 2038 Problem to the Year 2486
crazy, right?
xiconfjs··on Calibre 5.0
I‘m using calibre with calibre-web [1] to browse my 80000+ pdfs and couldn‘t be happier with the workflow. Only downside: import of these pdfs took almost a whole day.

xiconfjs··on G Suite Doesn't Let You Contact Support Until Logged In. Locked Out = Stuck
Same with Paypal...if somebody used your credit card information to buy something via Paypal without creating a account - so credit card fraud - there is no way to contact their support without providing a valid Paypal account. If you don‘t have one, you first have to create one.
xiconfjs··on Colorize Your CLI
about hostname in the prompt: if you are logged in to a bunch of server debugging a problem, it's good to see from the first sight on which system you are executing a command.
xiconfjs··on Terminal Server on a Budget
We are searching for a new serial to ethernet solution which is not as expensive as most B2B products. Right now this [1] would be our dream product. We are also looking into a combination of a mini-pc (like PC-Engines [2]) with two of these miniPCIe serial cards [3].

If you have better recommendations feel free to share them :)

xiconfjs··on Symbian Won
Last Symbian phone I used was a SonyEricsson P910 (Symbian UIQ3?). I loved the on device programming - writing a script answering SMS based on content was the best.
xiconfjs··on This Website Will Self Destruct
IPv6? ;)

xiconfjs··on How to crash an email server with a single email (2018)
We had a similar problem at my last company, where out boss sent a mail with his trip photos to the access limited everyone@ list - so our mailserver had a good 2 hours downtime while filling 2k email boxes with 20MB of attachments...what a mess

xiconfjs··on Ask HN: Is your company sticking to on-premise servers? Why?
off topic: do you really track the users mouse movements and personal data (IP & such) on your side without asking for permission? Kinda strange these days, isn't it?
xiconfjs··on Show HN: Posce, a note-taking toolkit for your command-line
not anymore.

Is anyone else getting a "Error 401 UNAUTHORIZED" on this github repo?
xiconfjs··on Show HN: iOS Login Page

xiconfjs··on Show HN: Regex Cheatsheet
not just the email regex is simplified (and at the end plain wrong). Also the one for phone numbers is highly simplified and will not match all valid phone numbers...
xiconfjs··on Gitmoji – Yay or Nay?
My main concern are blind people, I‘m not sure how well these emojis are accessible for them.
