We are just implementing international shipping. It has been really cost-prohibitive previously. UPS is $76, Priority is $32, we've figured out some cheaper options, but we want to make sure everything we offer is at prices we'd pay... and we haven't been able to nail it down yet. That said, we're looking at ~$14 shipping to most parts of Canada now. Not sure if that makes sense on one polo, but at least we have an option.

The section of My Profile was our first stab at taking in measurements, but we're refining it and making the UX much better. We'll definitely let you know when it launches.

This is -exactly- why we're doing what we're doing. What is your body type, if you don't mind me asking? Would love to see where you fit in our size scale and shoot you a shirt.

Great idea! Shoot me an email at will@pistollake.com and I'll get some measurements from you and work on the pattern.

Our XS fits 5'6" well, but we haven't tested to see where it starts to become too long. Here are a few people that are 5'6" wearing it:

Sorry about that! What're you trying to order and to what country? We'll get to the bottom of it.

Thank you for the support! I wish I could return the favor!

The reality is that many people are served really well by standard sizes - but there are huge pockets of people that aren't, and that traditional retailers choose not to accommodate. We're not doing completely custom clothing eg. an all together different pattern - we'll do it, as a service if none of our sizes fit, but I think that is pretty unlikely.

What we've done is taken the most overlooked body types - tall and thin, extremely athletic (body builders etc.), and heavier-set guys that want nice shirts, and built sizes that look good on them.

That said, I DO genuinely think that our medium shirt (the size I wear) fits better than any medium I've tried before. We've had a TON of feedback to confirm this.

Great advice on the checkout forwarding. Will definitely make that change soon!

1. We just hit $10K, our goal was at least $5K, which is the minimum to place an order for 16 rolls from the mill.

2. Most people are adequately covered by the standard 6 sizes. Ours fit particularly well - how a shirt should. It is a lot about how it fits in certain areas of the body and then drapes. We spent a ton of time perfecting our block, specific for our cotton, and then expanded it with other shirt designs. We take it a few steps further and have made a number of other sizes to fit between a Small and a Medium, and one between a Medium and a Large, and then tall sizes, tapered cuts for extremely athletic people, and a relaxed cut for heavier.

We're working on the interface now, and will have it done when the campaign ends to collect measurements. We can match you pretty well with height and weight, but chest helps a lot as well. Whatever you're comfortable giving!

Can't wait to get you your hoodies. :)

What'd you get? We had some quirks with the polos, but overall, I'm really proud of how well the first run came out. We're going to continue to make improvements every batch, so let me know if you have any things you'd like to see changed!

Check out the new henley - it is a one-of-a-kind. I may be biased (I'm a co-founder of Pistol Lake :) ) - but I've never had so many compliments on a shirt before.

Killer - we aim to please.

The question is.. was it lagoon blue? :)

Hey Brian, of the partnerships you mentioned, or any others, what is a good example of a deal that killed it for both parties? Any 1+1 = 10 kind of deals come to mind?

wsul··on How We Got Through The "Trough Of Sorrow"
something that can't be understated is the strength of the founding and core team, which attracted a world-class engineering team etc. smart, driven people want to work with people they respect and there were (and still are) a lot of ballers on that team.

We loved From Holden as well; we grew up there and it meant a lot to us. We might have been able to contest the C&D but at the end of the day, those guys have done exactly what we are doing -- poured their blood, sweat, and tears into building a company from the ground up. If they felt we were going to do harm to their brand, we definitely weren't willing to move forward because we loved the name or felt attached to it.

So that leaves us with establishing a new brand, and while there were some good ideas, none of them really stuck. We're investing our lives into building a long-lasting company and I'd rather build a brand around something that is already really meaningful to me than a made up word or one that has less emotional connection.

Well then, hopefully we can win you over with quality products, a great value prop, and a nice design and brand aesthetic!

Very interesting concept -- handicap theory. At the end of the day, we're confident our craftsmanship will speak for itself and will be what matters most, and the data from the survey did a lot to calm our own doubts about a name that we were very personally attached to.

It has been fascinating though, and we definitely plan to do further research for other decisions in the future.

Its an incredible service in alpha by the guys from SocialSci.com -- happy to make an intro if you'd like.

You mean a link on the blog.pistollake.com index page or within each blog post?

Just added to the index page.

Thanks for the heads up!

Glad you like the name. We bought the variations we could think of and we'll redirect them soon!

Why don't you think it'll go over well? We're backpackers, conservationists, and tree-huggers ourselves. :)

wsul··on Why I’m not backing you on Kickstarter
My background is in technology. I've built a few software companies. I focused on understanding the manufacturing process, designing the first line, sourcing materials, finding partners, working on fit, thinking about how to market the company in the future, etc. All the things you'd expect. It has been incredibly fun.
wsul··on Why I’m not backing you on Kickstarter
I posted an updated Risks section and will be continuing to add to it and edit. Any feedback very welcome!
wsul··on Why I’m not backing you on Kickstarter
Dan, we'd love your support. We're sizing for small to extra large on this first run with a couple fits/micro-sizes, including one specifically for the Governator and the tall/lean, which are typically overlooked by apparel companies.
wsul··on Why I’m not backing you on Kickstarter
I think Kickstarter's innovation is in building a brand that people/press know and trust, their design of forcing time constraints, and the ability to add demand for an offering. My money is that they continue amping up social features to allow more gamified sharing and the like which will only increase the attractiveness of their proposition.
