winslow··on Show HN: ChristmasVillage – Live stream controlable village and train
Yup that's due to Youtube uploading/transcoding. I put a note below the controls but that may not have been the most visible. It's definitely something I'd like to improve on in the future but would require my own direct streaming. Maybe something is possible via webRTC though.

Oh nice find! This is going to be an interesting listen.

Sounds like from the intro blurb that this was potentially recorded in June 2017 and this is a replay of that episode Sep 2 2018.

Just to clarify are you getting cuttings that are dying or established plants in a container? If you are getting cuttings make sure that you are cutting nodes and not just the leaf steam if you are trying to propagate. I've added a video that I've used to know where to cut the vine for propagating.

winslow··on Lego collecting delivers huge and uncorrelated market returns
I really appreciate the time you took to put together that solid response! Definitely learned a lot. It makes a lot more sense now for why USPS is facing the $3.5M judgement since they were made aware of the license issue and continued with printing/distribution.
winslow··on Lego collecting delivers huge and uncorrelated market returns
I'm confused why the USPS has to pay up $3.5M in this case. They purchased the image from Getty Images I assume with the proper license for printing/distribution. However, since this is the statue in Vegas it's not in public domain? How does that work? Are you not allowed to legally photograph the Vegas statue?

Does this mean if the USPS wanted to create stamps for the major cities of the US say LA, Chicago, NY and were to use pictures of Santa Monica Pier, Sears/Willis Tower, and Empire State building that they can't purchase pictures from Getty Images and would need permission from the owners of those properties? Also what stops me from suing Google or Zillow for taking a street view shot of my home and claiming copyright infringement on monetizing google maps / Zillow listings with a picture of my home?

winslow··on How We Designed the Librem 5 Dev Kit with Free Software
Does anyone know what language(s) will be used for app development? My understanding from reading the documentation is that it will be GTK+ for the UI and there are 2 examples of C/GTK+ apps. Since this is a debian linux distro and applications will be distributed via a debian repo, could you theoretically write it in any language ex: python, java, c++ and use GTK+ or QT?

winslow··on Musk mulls taking Tesla private, Saudi sovereign fund builds $2B stake
While I don't necessarily disagree with your statement it is important to note when Eisman and others shorted the housing market before the 2008 collapse their positions also took big negative hits having to pay hundreds of millions to hold their short positions. Obviously in the end of the housing market collapse they made massive profits. Still very early in their TSLA position to determine the winners & losers.
