Y, based on my experience, the utilities generally have different teams that handle the fibre installs.

I'd agree w/that take based on my experience in the field -- key issue is finding the right person at the utility to help you w/rhe solution.

willyk··on We Need Clean-Energy Innovation, and Lots of It
the need for energy innovation is a both a short term and long term problem, that extends beyond the availability fossil fuels -- which IMO are best kept in the ground if possible/as soon as innovation permits (http://www.theguardian.com/environment/series/keep-it-in-the...)

He's a heroic human being IMO, and much wiser than his 47 years. I recommend reading through some of his blog to get a full picture of the fight he and his strong family has put up against ALS, but here's one of the better thoughts he shared:

"I hope that my life stands testimony to the resilience of the human spirit, which cannot be killed, even when the mind is trapped in a body unable to lift a single finger in protest. And that even in a world that at times seems harsh and uncaring, that that same spirit grows ever stronger, vigilant against the injustices in the world, ever watchful for the joys it can bring to its fellow man, ever hungry for the simple pleasures to be found in life."

He has helped to make the world a much better place in his short time, giving much more than he's taken. His presence will be missed greatly by me and the many others to whom he's been a mentor and inspiration.

There seem to be a few initiatives happening in this space, some of which are being used to crowdfund/support open source teams. Once example would be https://gratipay.com/about/

Did you consider looking into any crowdfunding options? Perhaps with Kickstarer or Indiegogo? That's been used by some to both generate seed capital, help get products to market, and test/validate the model.

It's all a question of fit/priorities, and doing what's best for you at that point in your career/life.
