webjunkie··on 2012 has been the greatest year in the history of the world
What? Ruining nature and specifically groundwater with fracking and toxic chemicals is an "amazing breakthrough"?
webjunkie··on Any tips or tricks for a startup targeting college students?
I wanted to say DO NOT try to build a marketplace for students to buy or sell textbooks. But looking at the site, you made that mistake already.
webjunkie··on How we allowed users to customize the look & feel of our app with only 4 options
Please please please do not make links with just the word "here" linked. That's usability and SEO horror.
webjunkie··on $15 Dedicated servers from OVH
If you buy as a company Germany actually seems to be the cheapest as you don't have to consider VAT in any countries. Or am I missing something?
webjunkie··on Pickadate.js
Some more missing stuff: does not allow to block specific days or weekdays (e.g. sundays) that should not be picked. Also time ranges (hover over a days and the next x days get highlighted) would be nice.
webjunkie··on AdTrap removes ads between your modem and router
No ads on the Internet? Seriously, how do you think the economy would work without ads? If everyone got one of these, I could tell my boss on monday to close the company.
webjunkie··on The Zeroth Rule of Presentations
This is what I hate about these "I put up funny photos and slap some clever sentence below them"-style presentations. If you're not sitting in the front row, you cannot read anything.
webjunkie··on Employers Banned From Asking For Social Media Passwords In California
Or if that's related to "less government". Or "freedom works", which in this context reads ironic.
webjunkie··on World `countries` – database table for MySQL
Wasn't the country Russia still Russia, just within the Union?
webjunkie··on Stop Using noreply
I don't think noreply is about not wanting people to respond to your messages. It is rather a solution for all the garbage you get back when sending out email to thousands of people. You will get many many mailer deamon mails for people who typed their addresses wrong or whose mailbox is full (yes, there are still webhosts that have a 20 MB limit apparently). Filtering all this stuff takes lots of effort and seems like a bad thing to spent time on when you can just use noreply and include a "Have questions? Email us at service@example.com" line.
webjunkie··on You're Young. I'm 18. So what?
"Today I’m 18. I: have worked at two major startups, have written for AppAdvice, Macgasm, Envato, brushed Mashable, encountered numerous entrepreneurs, run The Industry, advise two startups, am a team member of Advise.me..."

I don't know what to think. It's great what he achieved, and I respect that. However, I think he might wake up one day and start asking himself, what did I do? Was my youth fun? Did I go out with people and do what kids usually do or did I just try to accomplish things and get my career somewhere?

When I hear someone being "only 17", or "only 20", or whatever, and wanting to be an entrepreneur, I don't rule them out because they are too young and have too few experience. I worry that they might miss out on living their life.

webjunkie··on Why I switched to Spine.js
Yeah, I'd rather have several clear choices of inflexible things than fuzzy choices of stuff that is so flexible that I ask myself what to do with it.
webjunkie··on Fresco - A Beautiful Responsive Lightbox
It's good idea to take money for things that took a lot of effort and have high quality. But with all free open source possibilities in this area, I think you're right that it seems a little overambitious.
webjunkie··on Fresco - A Beautiful Responsive Lightbox
When I read "fullscreen zoom" I thought it would maybe use fullscreen APIs... so far I haven't found that. Does anyone know a lightbox that does that well (like Facebook photos)?
webjunkie··on Dear Programmer, I have an idea
Apparently the people inhabiting your part of the world don't have any sense of humor.
webjunkie··on Why the Berlin startup scene is still in a bubble of hype
"the startups of Berlin seem to be driven purely by generic management graduates"

Best sentence I read about that. So true.

webjunkie··on Dear Programmer, I have an idea
Probably. Everyone gets them.
webjunkie··on I feel I am building a new Google Wave
Yet a fighter jet gives you so much power.
webjunkie··on The music classifying nightmare
The single most annoying thing I encountered was the inability of ID3 to handle multiple albums. Every artist sooner or later releases the exact same piece of music on another album. WHY DIDN'T THEY THINK OF THAT?
webjunkie··on PayPal CEO writes personal response
Wow, just wow. If it's real. If he really means it. But still.
webjunkie··on Why I wear the same shirt every day
A no door policy as to not having to think about how to open the door and in which direction!
webjunkie··on The 2 Biggest Mistakes I Made When Learning to Code
Yeah, away with all that crap, just use Django already! Good decision.
webjunkie··on How we shifted 6Wunderkinder to Wunderlist, again
Oh did I just read "rebuilding the backend from scratch" there?

webjunkie··on How we shifted 6Wunderkinder to Wunderlist, again
"more than 20 engineers" on a to-do list app? Isn't that quite an overhead? I mean 37signals have 9 developers and they successfully run several products (even with their easy-going lifestyle).
webjunkie··on World wide wasteland
I once complained to a blogger that he did not use a single link in his article about a new site. His response was that if I wouldn't manage to find the site via Google, I'm too dumb to be using it anyway. So much for links.
webjunkie··on BitTorrent study finds most file-sharers are monitored
What does 3 hours mean? I don't need that long to download anything.

And I doubt that if I download some rare indie music stuff, that anyone would care to monitor this torrent.

webjunkie··on Why Ratings Systems Don't Work
He jumps in and applies star rating problems just to movies, gives an alternative that works only for movies and in the end promotes his own movie site.
webjunkie··on How I negotiated my startup compensation (with numbers)
Oh no... noooo... don't let that be true. Now I have nightmares.
webjunkie··on How I negotiated my startup compensation (with numbers)
I somehow can't take people serious who still think it's a good idea to use 'here' as a link text.
webjunkie··on Why to auto-answer video calls
I like this. I think people frequently underestimate the disadvantages of having team members work from home. Sure, basic tasks can be done remotely ("set up this database xy, perform maintenance work here etc") but all other tasks require collaboration. Having everyone in IRC will help, but it is not the same. People will not talk to each other the same. This is where video, instead of Skype calls or similar, might really help.

Edit: By all means put up screenshots so one can see what this app looks like.
