It is frustrating that notifications on threads opens the common threads view instead of the main thread view. I would rather have it like HN or Reddit where threads are in the same flow, but with a possibility to expand.
Isn't using company@mydomain.com a clear indicator that there is a catch all adress on @mydomain.com? Which makes it even harder to avoid spam once it is obvious that you can send to whichever email you want on that domain?
What if bitcoins got disallowed as a currency in most places where you can use it to buy things. Would ransomware go away in that case? I imagine that if the possibility to have anonymous payments disappear, it would be much harder to target regular people with ransomware as well.
I have always wondered about the ratings. It seems to me that all movies below 6 is trash. Has this always been this way? One would imagine that a 5 star rating would be ok since it is right between 0 (bad) and 10 (great). I guess some kind of inflation in the ratings is going on, but how is such things prevented in these kinds of ratings over time? Is it even possible to prevent?
Just curious, why is second hand book stores that important? I imagine that everything worth reading is available on Amazon and rated in Goodreads. I am just curious and hopefully I am totally wrong as well.
I have seen a physical therapist as well, but with a very generic answer as a result. Hence I am asking here for more ideas on how to do that “just do som regular workout” as I am supposed to.
I think that php has some weird disk usage behaviour that makes running Wordpress in a docker environment slow. I don’t know exactly what it is but I would say it is a weird behaviour of php anyway.
No one should be able to stay on an outdated version, both for security and compatibility reasons. Supporting old versions of you have an api attached is a cost in it self as well.
I use soft deletes to maintain insights. For instance I would like to know how many users that has been created in total even if some has been deleted later on. Is this a bad approach? Most of the other comments here seems to use it only to be able to restore deleted entries.
It seems that it is too easy to delete things in your system. Rather than solving it with reversible soft deletes I would suggest to improve the UX. I don’t agree that it simplifies foreign key management, it is most often the opposite from my point of view.
I see. There are plenty of UI design tools like sketch, figma, adobe xd but Illustrator has the illustrative part as well. I don’t think any of the UI tools are a great replacement for that.
I am a big fan of the "UX" at HN. I recently discovered indiehackers.com and while I like the content a lot I am having a hard time hanging out there. The site is too dark and there is too much noise, on HN there is just one feed which is nice.
