smells like spam to me
popular vote for president
nonpartisan redistricting of every state
ranked-choice-voting everywhere
limits on corporate money in politics
end the filibuster
strictly define supreme court size, terms, and appointment rules
age limits for congress
finish reconstruction
mess with texas
there is a lot of technical debt in this project
i don't see the sunk-cost fallacy angle, just the sunk costs. the capital allocators will absolutely shut off the spigot when they see that it isn't going to yield. yeah, there could be some dark data centers. not the end of the world, just another ai winter at worst - maybe a dot-com crash... whatever.
the world is way bigger than the techo chamber
Hey I live in CA!
Ohh... the Authorities!
The Alarm is raised!
the rest is evocative and loaded terms too, "wild" "pigs" "flesh!" "neon" - but at least they are unexaggerated.
It's a gross headline
I'm as frustrated about this as you are, but there is a large class of people who will not or can not understand and implement the password-manager workflow.
Of the people I know who are not in a tech career i'd say about 80% have nothing but contempt and ignorant fatalism toward security. The only success I've had is getting one older relative to start writing account credentials down in a little paper notebook and making sure there are numbers and letters in the passwords.
"Wild pig flesh turns neon blue after eating rodent poison"
California, Authorities, and Alarm are all unneeded
The health-provider side has the problem that some people are faking it, some are seeking attention or drugs without a condition, and some are needlessly suffering but won’t say so. Also, they don’t have the time.
This is a wicked problem for a system to have - there are malicious actors and incompetents on both sides. The current systems of half-century-old 1-10 scores is frustrating and simplistic.
TFA is not saying the solution is for all patients to get an English degree - I think. The worksheet they show as an improvement is dramatically more complex, hard to read, and undoubtedly more accurate than the old 1-10. That’s not a clear ‘win’.
Also, why have we accepted these simplistic tools for so long? Maybe there is little to be gained by improving them - or maybe the incentives are misaligned.
It’s a good problem to work on

this is an extremely esoteric thing - no net magnetism, but has some possibly-useful properties of atomic spin... useful if you're doing some spintronics, that is. maybe.
also, you, the MAGA-hallucinations against windpower are contemptible lies AND they have nothing to do with this single underwater turbine.
