vpontis··on Show HN: Impraise – Easy continuous feedback at work (YC S14)
Does this remind other people of MicroEval who also did YC a few years ago?

They have shut down now but you can see info at their site still http://www.microeval.com/.

vpontis··on Today's New Regulation Could Spark a Health Tech Revolution
Hi Mazimi, I'm Victor and working as an engineer at Picnic this summer.

At first we are targeting patients with chronic illnesses. These patients often see doctors in different systems and are not able to view all of their medical information in one place. Picnic will consolidate their data and provide it in an easy to view fashion.

Focusing on patients with chronic illnesses will also help us give meaning to the data. We have a doctor on the team who is categorizing all of the tests as per different conditions and explaining how certain key tests are relevant to your condition. With the explanation, the tests gain meaning and you can see how your health is faring over time.

In the future, we will want to extend these explanations and information to healthy patients to give everyone insight into their health.

As for archimedesmodel, at this point we are not looking at giving health forecasts. We want Picnic to be a tool that clearly shows data to the patient and allows them to have a more productive conversation with their doctors. In the future we may consider extending the feature set.

vpontis··on NFL players: height and weight over time
I noticed that too. It looks like their is a further specialization into linemen and "skill" players. Linemen need all of the weight they can get where "skill" players want to be bigger and stronger to some extent but still need to be agile.
vpontis··on Facebook without the News Feed
KillNewsFeed for Chrome is an extension that does this. I've been using it lately and I like it a lot. I'm going to fork it and also kill my trending box.

vpontis··on Airpnp: Like Airbnb, but for toilets
Are you able to list your neighbor's lawn?
vpontis··on Bevel - A Better Shaving System
Who is this "we" that the website and the video reference? It might be nice if they more precisely defined their target customer.

I got into safety razor shaving in high school. It feels pretty nice, looks classy, and is a lot cheaper than Mach5 or whatever they are selling now. Now I just use an electric shaver because it's so much faster.

vpontis··on Nexus 4 available for purchase again today at 12pm PST
This worked for me on Chrome! It works!
vpontis··on Nexus 4 available for purchase again today at 12pm PST
Was anyone able to buy it? I have being trying to since before 3pm. It just seems totally broken...
vpontis··on Interface Design with a Homeless person
And, that's the point. The poster in the story realizes the privilege of his life and gains insight into the life of others. You really expect him, at 19, to understand homeless people when there is so often a sensationalized stereotype.

About his username, it is absurd that you cannot admit to going to a good school without being pretentious. The classic example is how Harvard students say where they go to school, "in Boston". Hiding information about your successes because they might impress people is much more pretentious than making a username "MIT_Hacker".

Think before you attack people.

vpontis··on Interface Design with a Homeless person
Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. And I think the experience and re-thinking interactions is more important than the specific design principles they talked about. In addition it shows how interface design is universal and how one can gain insight from even the most unlikely sources.
vpontis··on [Infographic] PHP vs. Python vs. Ruby
I just wish they would align the column order with the title order. It's such a minor thing but would make it seem so much more organized.
