viraj_shah··on Show HN: We open sourced Lockitron's crowdfunding app
Thank you for this. This will be so helpful for my and many other startups. Interesting to note that Kickstarter has an Amazon FlexPay gem on their github.
viraj_shah··on Building a Real-time SMS Voting App Part 1: Node.js and CouchDB
I'm anxiously waiting for the remaining parts. :)
viraj_shah··on Tesla's Big Gamble: Can The Electric Car Go Mainstream?
Yeah, I don't remember where I saw it but Elon Musk had mentioned that the main goal was to go from the Roadster to something affordable at a price range of $20k to $30k. Increase production and decrease price with each production run.
viraj_shah··on Show HN: The code free way to use Stripe
Thank you.
viraj_shah··on Modeling Physics in Javascript: Gravity and Drag
Thanks for putting up the email subscriptions
viraj_shah··on Why is there no Red Hat for consumer products?
I think you like a few others represent a small segment. Of the consumers willing to use Red Hat, those who would pay is even less. Enterprise is a much bigger piece of the already small pie.
viraj_shah··on Cubieboard: A small, high-performance ARM box
Great board. Great price. Heard about this through the Homebrew Robotics Club.
viraj_shah··on Introduction to genetic algorithms (example in Javascript)
Great article. Thanks for taking the time to write it up. How about an email list to sign up for notifications of new lessons? Thanks again!
viraj_shah··on Inbox Pause - A pause button for incoming mail in Gmail [Chrome extension]
Ah nice! Missed that. Cool.
viraj_shah··on Inbox Pause - A pause button for incoming mail in Gmail [Chrome extension]
Seems like this is a combination of filters, labels, and vacation responders to "pause" messages. Nice hack but may be good to disclose that all your mail correspondences will receive an automated message about Inbox Pause. Personally I don't like it (the vacation responder), so it seems easy enough to disable while keeping the actual pausing functionality. Otherwise nice tool!
viraj_shah··on Learn how to code a Facebook app in 20 minutes with PythonAnywhere
I love things like this. Things that truly encourage people to just build even if it is very basic. It is such a good learning tool!
viraj_shah··on John Hunter [matplotlib.sourceforge.net] has died.
I think today it is quite understated the value of giving back to the programming community. It is so easy for people to consume and take the information online but it is just as important that people contribute as much as they can back to community to continue the cycle. John is a perfect example of someone who went beyond the call.
viraj_shah··on Simple Password Encrypted Files w/ GnuPG
I like this fat free guide to encrypting my files.
viraj_shah··on GIMP is Now a Self-Contained Native App for Mac OS X
The interface looks significantly better, at least from the last time I messed around with it (which was a while ago).
viraj_shah··on Ask HN: Best compact news sources outside tech news?
I think this a tough thing to find. "Compact" is dependent really on what you want as news. You are bound to miss somethings as all of the worlds news is too much for any one person to read.

That being said Google News isn't bad. http://news.google.com/

It isn't pretty but I wouldn't be surprised if there are better readers out there.

viraj_shah··on New Default WordPress Theme: Twenty Twelve
They are moving in the right direction. Responsive and minimalistic. I like it. I'm glad they removed that banner picture from the top.
viraj_shah··on Under the Hood: Building Facebook Camera
I love these little notes that they (FB Engineering) have been posting. It gives some nice insight into how at least larger companies develop the products (both technical and non-technical) including what they take into consideration.
viraj_shah··on My Python Code for the Netflix Prize
@alexbw Thanks for the info, great work!
viraj_shah··on My Python Code for the Netflix Prize
This was incredibly kind of you to post up. It is great to see it public domain as many can learn from it. The Cython code looks scary though - 18k lines! May I ask how long you spent on this?
viraj_shah··on Essential C
Oh, this is fantastic. Thank you!
