vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: Review my weekend project (Scribld.in)
Nice utility. Few things that I think can improve user experience : 1. User gets no clue about what it is, what to do, how to do until and unless he creates an account. (there should be some kind of demo/trial stuff before logging in). 2. Even after logging in the documentation is very limited.

The thing is that User should know what to do. I understand it's a weekend project but i guess u can use HNers comments to improve it .

vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: What's your most interesting life goal currently?
Should have started long back ....but better late than never.
vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: What's your most interesting life goal currently?
I am still in a job that I hated like anything when I had to join it two year ago. I couldn't join Grad school this summer due to lack of money. So here are my goals in order of priority: 1. Build a small webapp so that first of all I can quit my job and have time to hack on what I like. 2. Get admission to a good Grad school next fall with full funding. 3. loose all the fat (a lot of it) that I have gained in past few years. 4. Make extra money to buy a Royal Enfield Bullet classic (any MotorCycle enthusiasts from India here ?) and go on a countrywide motorcycle trip of India.

Dude, Are you doing a Ph.D or MS ? I am looking to apply to a PhD for coming Fall. Can't afford a unfunded MS.
vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: Has Linux become too easy to use ?
Agreed. There is of course nothing virtuous about anything being difficult. I personally just feel that Linux has its charm in its rawness. No offence meant !!!
vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: How do you keep up with changing technologies?
I believe that if you are real good with your concepts - Algorithms, Data structures, OOP concepts, etc. there is no reason to worry about the technology. The job remains the same- giving right set of instructions to process the data. Moreover, I personally believe that it's hard for anyone to be even familiar with so many technologies that are coming up everyday.
vineet7kumar··on How many of HNers are regular on some Online Judge like SPOJ or UVA?
I am sorry I didn't explain the terms. Thanks for doing that.

vineet7kumar··on Propose HN: Give me an Idea for a Startup
cool Idea and really useful.
vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: moving to US
Work culture in India sure is way different and sadly not quite entrepreneurial in nature in fact non-professional to some extent :( I am not talking about some particular company but the general work culture here.
vineet7kumar··on Ask HN: moving to US
"I think if you work on some of the strengths of having a start-up in India but with global reach and applications ..." - Can you please elaborate on these strengths of having a start-up in India (apart from lower costs of living)?

One more vote for thinkpad ... I always wanted a macbook but when I saw the Thinkpad it was instantly like "Wow this is it ! How could I overlook it for so long ". Specially I liked the Thinkpad's keyboard much over thinkpad's

vineet7kumar··on Ask YC: What should I use for front end GUI development?
OOPS I forgot to give the link. It is a startup by Aza Raskin and his friends. The link is http://www.humanized.com Even if you don't use it do check out the demo. It's nice.
vineet7kumar··on Ask YC: What should I use for front end GUI development?
Is it easy to learn Tcl/Tk as a C hacker? Also can I design beautiful looking widgets with it? I mean like things that can be done with DHTML for a browser ?

I liked Enso's interface ... can that type of interface be designed using Tcl/Tk ?

vineet7kumar··on After c/c++ what should I learn?
In my opinion, as a student, you must concentrate on subjects like Data structures, Algorithms and Operating Systems (If you have already done a course in these then go for advanced levels). They are the foundations. Moreover a semester is way too less for C/C++ . Once you have a good grasp on C/C++, learning most of the other languages will be fairly easy.
