villaumbrosia··on Ask HN: How to make 1:1s actionable for team members? (not just the manager)
Nice tool. Maybe a way for users to keep track of feedback given to them by their managers, and track their own progress? This could be quite motivational!
villaumbrosia··on Ask HN: As a Startup, how do you break into big corp?
You definitely need to get a foot in the door - personal relationships are key. Find out what open to the public network events your target market is going to, and start showing up. You may also consider doing a joint-venture with a more established firm to help get your first few clients. Enterprise products are indeed a different world, as this Dropbox Product Manager talks about in this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl5HVPe9P7w
villaumbrosia··on Ask HN: How to iterate product when you don't have many users?
Be careful of bias. Users often aren't the best judge of their own experience - for example when Facebook launched Newsfeed in 2006, people said they hated it, but the data showed differently. Obviously, the feature actually worked. Particularly if your users are people who know you, they may be trying to make you feel good or to look good in your eyes, rather than giving an objective report about your product. If possible try and branch out and get feedback from people outside of your circle. Of course, feedback from folks you know is valuable too, you just need to be aware of the possibility of bias.
villaumbrosia··on Ask HN: How do you get feedback during product development?
Nice question! There was a useful discussion on this over at the Product Manager Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/ProductManagersCommunity/sea...

One of the best tips shared was the make use of your sales / customer success team - they have the closed relationship with your target audience, so they will know more intimately how they go about using your products, what their needs are, what pain points they are facing, etc. They're outside of the typical product development "team" but may have some useful insights for you.

villaumbrosia··on Ask HN: How do I test my product idea?
Can you be more specific? Creating a mockup/wireframe/protype with online tools like Invision or Balsamiq is a good start, and then putting it in front of people to gather feedback. You can also go straight for the MVP - build the smallest, cheapest usable version of your product and see if that fills a need and gathers good feedback. If so, you have encouragement to go further. villaumbrosia··on How to Launch Your Product from Early Idea to Revenue
Product Hunt can be an awesome tool! We've recently launched a free eBook there which became the most upvoted Product of the Day. This was achieved through a) Offering valuable, relevant content that Hunters like b) Mobilizing our community to check out the offer

totally agree that upvotes only matter if they're from the right people - just no point wasting energy in putting your offer in front of people who aren't interested in it. As in all things, Product Market Fit is key - right offer for the right community.

villaumbrosia··on How to Build a Growth Team – Lessons from Uber, Hubspot, and Others (50 Slides)
Great article, thank you for sharing! Favorite quote:

"Too many startups are beginning with “I need a growth team!” and accepting a random org configuration, without thinking it through from the fundamentals. Ultimately, You have to start with the problems you are trying to solve. Begin with the KPIs, the insights you’ve generated, and then move onto execution. You staff the problem area and the type of execution you want. The organizational structure follows from there."
