vijaydev··on AS HN: How much Bandwidth do you consume per day? How can I reduce mine?
I have lived with 1 GB/month for nearly 2 years. No images, no ads, no flash. Now on an unlimited bandwidth connection :)
vijaydev··on Dave McClure responds to Arrington's post
That quote struck a chord. Just the right one for me to be better at work.

Did a google for that quote to find out that it's pg in this article http://www.paulgraham.com/hs.html

vijaydev··on Why I stopped reading HN
The leaders link in the top bar was removed when a separate page was added with the Ask HN questions.

Here is pg's announcement: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1173801

In the same discussion, in response to http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1174132, pg moved the leader link to the Lists page and had the Ask HN on top bar.

vijaydev··on Ask HN: What do you want to tell Microsoft?
40 million programmers?
vijaydev··on Hacker News Instant Search
awesome! I liked the nice and clean UI. Even if the coder himself says it is ugly in his about page :)
vijaydev··on Google Maps Instant (inspired by Youtube Instant)
I too got that quite a lot.
vijaydev··on Ask HN: What's up with the Google logo today? What does it mean?
Found this in another HN article. www.rubypay.com/google/Google.htm

vijaydev··on PG Got Twitter So I Made Hacker News For Tweets
how does this work? Tweets by ppl following pg?
vijaydev··on Kind reminder: please (re)read the HN guidelines
links loaded into memory - how does that work? Can you please explain?
vijaydev··on Regrets of the Dying
yeah probably. His tweet came about an hour after this submission :)
vijaydev··on Regrets of the Dying
This happens quite often. Several good links escape attention due to low votes and get lost. Shouldn't I have got a "link already exists" message?
vijaydev··on Oracle: the new "axis of evil" against Free software
Which tools?
vijaydev··on How to Minimize Politics in Your Company
Key techniques from the article:

1. Hire people with the right kind of ambition.

2. Build strict processes for potentially political issues and do not deviate.

3. Be careful with “he said, she said".

vijaydev··on Using = Considered Harmful (or, What’s Wrong With =)
me too.. expecting how we shd do, if nil == a, instead of if a == nil and those kinda stuff!
vijaydev··on Coming home to Vim
That's a good one.
vijaydev··on Coming home to Vim
One of the comments in the article.

"zt, zb and zz are commands that I use pretty frequently. They keep the cursor on the current line, but re-position the cursor at the top, bottom or middle of the screen."

Priceless! Was wondering how to do this a couple of days ago. Thanks David Frey.

vijaydev··on What different sorting algorithms sound like
Cool job! Gnome Sort - now that's new to me!
vijaydev··on The Greatest 404 message I've seen in awhile
Smart people always view source :)
vijaydev··on Calvin & Hobbes Search Engine
Here's his post about taking down the site: http://www.s-anand.net/blog/the-calvin-and-hobbes-search-tak...
vijaydev··on Rob Pike frustrated by Java, C++ complexity
also note that "executive" becomes "distinguished Engineer" right in the first sentence!
vijaydev··on Ask HN: Why are there so few apps being built with JSP?
well, I'll agree to that! Especially the factories :)
vijaydev··on Ask HN: Why are there so few apps being built with JSP?
disagree on the documentation point.
vijaydev··on I am doing a startup (putting virtual machines on the web)
Thanks for pointing out the right term. However, the site does not use HTML5 placeholder and instead rely on plain JS to do the trick. What I wished for was a behavior like in the demo here: http://diveintohtml5.org/examples/input-placeholder.html
