TIL: being anti-monopoly is both entitled and Marxist.

Boy are you going to be surprised when you find out that there is an entire French literary tradition that doesn't concern itself with who does and does not speak the language.
venturecruelty··on Deliberate Internet Shutdowns
I'm still not sure why this is the author's problem. If a piece of writing is too challenging, you are welcome to disengage from it, and not demand more from the author.
venturecruelty··on Deliberate Internet Shutdowns
No, they're just not pandering to children who can't help themselves.
venturecruelty··on Deliberate Internet Shutdowns
I really don't know why people refuse to look things up. And I don't understand how the parent's comment isn't off-topic and unnecessary and pedantic and mine apparently is. This place is a goddamn cesspool.
venturecruelty··on Deliberate Internet Shutdowns
I don't see why that's the author's responsibility to manage this for you.
venturecruelty··on Deliberate Internet Shutdowns
Antitrust law does. That requires a government that cares to enforce the law.
venturecruelty··on I program on the subway
Funny enough, that sounds awful, too.
venturecruelty··on Backing up Spotify
You can also do this with your human brain, which doesn't require 1 MWh or a thousand gallons of water to write a script to pipe API results to jq.
venturecruelty··on I program on the subway
Not paying attention on the train, even in 2025 girliepop-influencer-Instragram-latte-art New York, is not the smartest. You're probably better off during rush hour, but being aware of your surroundings is never a bad idea, even in "safe" New York.
venturecruelty··on I program on the subway
This is how transplants get mugged, but okay. Why not just enjoy your hour of zen instead of constantly working?
venturecruelty··on I program on the subway
Using your brain and skills to program is so 2021.

Why haven't you unsubscribed then?
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stop AI scrapers from hammering your self-hosted blog (using porn)
We could also just punish the people who are ruining society.
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stop AI scrapers from hammering your self-hosted blog (using porn)
Well, "let Google do whatever the fuck they want because they're rich" isn't exactly working out, is it.

Firewall.
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stickerbox, a kid-safe, AI-powered voice to sticker printer
You and I both know this is a disingenuous argument. You're not saying "Hey, Stickerbox. Choose a nice font for me." You're saying: "Hey, Stickerbox, write the entire book for me."

Try again, please.

venturecruelty··on Flock and Cyble Inc. weaponize “cybercrime” takedowns to silence critics
How much does food and electricity cost you (if the electricity is even on for you at all)? Also, uh, this isn't high school anymore, and the "nerds vs. jocks" framing says a lot more about your own internal state than it does about the state of the world, which is being run into the ground by wealthy oligarchs. If you have bad high school memories to process, that can be done elsewhere.

First time?
venturecruelty··on Backing up Spotify
Did they get to decide when their music was pirated and sold originally by Daniel Ek?
venturecruelty··on Backing up Spotify
Hey, you should look up how Spotify got started. :)
venturecruelty··on Backing up Spotify
You're talking about Spotify, right? Famously started by ad execs pirating music and then selling it.
venturecruelty··on Sequoia partner spreads debunked Brown shooting theory, testing new leadership
I mean, openly? Not too many. Dog whistles, though... well, you might just be what the Fifth Circuit is looking for.
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stickerbox, a kid-safe, AI-powered voice to sticker printer
Why learn to draw when the slop machine will make images for you? Why learn to write when the slop machine will make stories for you? Why learn an instrument when the slop machine will make music for you? This does nothing but kill actual creativity at the hands of the people making electricity expensive. We should be appalled and ashamed.

Also, criticism is not hate, and I think you and every other disingenuous AI cheerleader know it.

I challenge you to re-read your comment again and again until you understand where you went wrong.
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stickerbox, a kid-safe, AI-powered voice to sticker printer
The entire point of being creative is that you actually MAKE it yourself, not that you tell the slop machine to make it for you. This is, quite frankly, the complete and total opposite of creativity. This is pure consumption disguised as creativity, wrapped up in a nice $99 box that will probably be e-waste in a couple years when the company goes under.

And asbestos just gives you a little cough. If I weren't already so cynical, this entire thread would certainly do it. You people are so goddamn dismissive in the most repulsive, condescending way.
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stickerbox, a kid-safe, AI-powered voice to sticker printer
Hubris, mostly, same as always.
venturecruelty··on Show HN: Stickerbox, a kid-safe, AI-powered voice to sticker printer
And so are the AI shills. People are allowed to be critical of things.
