Yes agreed. But is a good distance to cover a small neighbourhood or campus.

Yes that can be a solution. The plan was to create a way to connect with people within a small neighbourhood or campus or building. 1KM is a max. distance to cover this area. So I was not planning for this scenario at all :)

I am marking those dead services which were once alive. Will change it to dead service.

Makesense, renamed it to https://github.com/vasanthv/web-app-hunt

I have already added a mini description of each service. Might be helpful for you.

1 Kilometer (0.6 miles)

The app could not get your location. :p

Can you try now.

Bad developer error. Fixed it.

Soundcloud CEO says no its not going away anytime soon. https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2017/07/14/soundcloud-ceo-r...

Its a peer-to-peer video conference. Will surely work on the about page.

Moving the list to twitter to cut down costs.

Hi I am the maker of this application. To give you some insights about this, it is a web application that runs on most recent browsers that support WEBRTC (Try it in Google Chrome :) ). It enables video conferencing to upto 8 people.

Feel free to share your thoughts here.

Thank you for reporting. Fixed it.

then it wont work at all.. its a simple video conference app

Its same as YO! but you can also send a message of one word of your choice.

The idea sparked when I went to a tech conference of 1500 attendees and there was no way to chat with the attendees.

The message will be delivered only to people within 0.5km. But you can still message anyone by @mentioning their handle even-though they are not near you. Did I answer your question?

And no you can't leave a message in locations.

There is nothing stopping us from creating a web app. But the use case is less priority for us as most people are getting connected using mobile and we want to stick with it.

Thanks

Hello HN,

oruapp acts as a twitter for your local area. any message you send will be delivered to everyone within 0.5km radius. its an ideal solution for socializing in conferences, universaties/colleges, events (sports, tech, academic etc).

no one near you? we got you covered, we will increase the radius till we find a recipient for your message.

send one-to-one message even if the recipient is not near you by @mentioning the recipient's handle in the message.

no registraton, no password, its just that simple.

Can someone try this app and give us suggestions?

This is insane..

Nice visualization..

Without Wifi its gonna be a kids toy.. Who is gonna use it?
