vardump··on Assembly Hall of Shame
A great resource for any performance deoptimization.
vardump··on SpaceX wins $1.6B Space Force contract for 18 Falcon 9 launches
Any kind of constructive discussion becomes very hard.

Fake ”criticism” and cheapshots make actual criticism nearly impossible.

vardump··on BMW Spider-Man in-car advertising
The current crop of cars are significantly safer than in early 2000s.
vardump··on Show HN: misa77 - a codec that decodes 2x faster than LZ4 (at better ratios)
That is a bit too harsh. Not all applications require those guarantees. It’s fine if you can trust the inputs.
vardump··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
I honestly don't see how Russia is going to win. The West is never going to allow that, because the future consequences would be detrimental.
vardump··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
True before the war. Putin did manage to make Ukraine united.

The clear majority of Russian speaking Ukrainians support Zelenskyy now.

vardump··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Sigh. It's still a very cheap price to pay for the European security.
vardump··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Ask Google AI what's the real value of the supplied aid.

Also, supplying Ukraine is a cheap way to prevent similar invasions from happening in the future.

vardump··on How Ukraine Built a War Fighting State
Because it's not true? If you think it is, sources please.
vardump··on Apple Silicon Exec Explains Mac Mini AI Demand and On-Device Future
Ah ok. I replied to ~45 minutes stale page.
vardump··on Apple Silicon Exec Explains Mac Mini AI Demand and On-Device Future
Raspberry Pi and other SBCs, Android phones and practically all of the embedded devices with a display and microprocessor.

All have unified memory. Linux runs just fine on all of those.

vardump··on Grok 4.5
> actively helped Russia in its invasion of Ukraine

That's the opposite. Without Musk, Russia might have succeeded back in 2022. All other communication methods failed other than Starlink, which Musk provided early on.

In terms of concrete actions, Musk has been highly supportive of Ukraine. For that, Ukrainians have been very grateful to him.

vardump··on Bonnie Tyler has died
Little by little, memories of the 1980s fade.
vardump··on Car touchscreens are cheap, not good
Curiously Teslas currently have two click wheels in the steering wheel.
vardump··on WinPE as a stateless harness for Windows driver testing and fuzzing
That’s nice. Windows drivers have always been a PITA to test.
vardump··on One KW wind turbine without civil engineering
I’ve been looking for a wind turbine you could deploy on the roof. I’ve got 15 kW of inverter capacity available.

So far my conclusion has been that it’s not yet time for this.

vardump··on Box3D, an open source 3D physics engine
Great, now we can have Angry Birds in 3D.
vardump··on Hatari – Online Atari ST/STE/TT/Falcon Emulator
Try quarter of a century.

Time flies.

vardump··on "Fix" MacBook Neo Cursor Lag: Record 1 Pixel of the Screen Every 10 Seconds
Thanks! I think both approaches have their uses, neither fully replaces the other.
vardump··on "Fix" MacBook Neo Cursor Lag: Record 1 Pixel of the Screen Every 10 Seconds
Embedded Swift in a script. That seems like a useful concept for small scripts on macOS. I will definitely steal this idea.
vardump··on Raspberry Pi Pico W as USB Wi-Fi Adapter
Thanks! Now I potentially have ~20 USB WiFi adapters I didn’t have yesterday.

Even better, no need to hassle with the WiFi settings on the target system.

In wrong hands, Pico W is actually a bit terrifying device, because it combines USB and wireless.

vardump··on Unity vs. Floating Point
I would be surprised if you could get even one third of performance of floats. So why bother?
vardump··on Tesla Full Self Driving uses bicycle lane in official Denmark approval video
In this case, the whistleblowing was done by DirtyTesla (as credited by Dan). Respect to him for that. Dan has created proven fake videos where Tesla is allegedly unsafe, but got caught. So he has lost his credibility.

It's very important to call out these issues AND to do it honestly.

vardump··on Swift at Apple: Migrating the TrueType hinting interpreter
Does it borrow borrow checker?
vardump··on Tesla Full Self Driving uses bicycle lane in official Denmark approval video
You should have shown the original video and not the one from Dan O'Dowd. He is not interested in pedestrian safety in any way, he is doing this only to promote his own company, Green Hills Software. He didn't have any issues with Tesla until it stopped using his software.

The original: https://x.com/DirtyTesLa/status/2062260954709049840 or https://xcancel.com/DirtyTesLa/status/2062260954709049840.

Do you mean FSD or Autosteer (or Autopilot or whatever it's called now). I think Tesla left Autosteer purposefully crappy. FSD is excellent at keeping the lane, way better than what your Škoda can do.
vardump··on Upcoming breaking changes for npm v12
There should be a path for local building as well. Node.js is being used on a lot of embedded systems. I’d imagine there are also lots of other reasons for local builds.
vardump··on Win16 Memory Management
3/1 split was common, though. Especially towards the end of 32-bit era.
vardump··on Tracing a powerful GNSS interference source over Europe
Are you joking? Russia has thrown everything it has at Ukraine for quite some time.
vardump··on Entanglement Builds Space-Time. Now "Magic" Gives It Gravity
Does this mean universe can only support certain amount of energy (or motion) in a certain volume?
