When I first read the article, I thought it can't be true but then I tried it myself and verified it, although now they have fixed it. Some have screenshots where if they earlier type president donald, then 'duck' comes as a suggestion with no listing for 'trump'.

Did anyone else try it?

People are claiming it's part of election interference whereas Google has denied saying autocomplete takes time to get latest news? Is it really possible?

utkarsh858··on Senate to Vote on Web Censorship Bill Disguised as Kids Safety
I never snoop like I said. And yes I know about kids because I was a kid too! and have suffered the same. Only people living under a rock will act fully dumb when predators harm kids through online methods.
utkarsh858··on Senate to Vote on Web Censorship Bill Disguised as Kids Safety
Will you allow a terrorist organisation and extremist (left, right or whatever) to fully 'express themselves' in front of 5 year olds. No! Kids are always in forefront. Simple labeling won't help subdue what's important.
utkarsh858··on Senate to Vote on Web Censorship Bill Disguised as Kids Safety
Yeah blame is equally on parents who can't give good productive engagement to kids for them to grow, instead they choose to make their ipads babysit their kids for them.
utkarsh858··on Senate to Vote on Web Censorship Bill Disguised as Kids Safety
One does't need to peek unless one is really dumb, especially when the kids are changing reels with full volume on
utkarsh858··on Senate to Vote on Web Censorship Bill Disguised as Kids Safety
Yes people and especially kids are a lot into into mindless consumption. Whenever I travel( I travel a lot) I see almost every child on train with a smartphone mindlessly scrolling through dumb reels with their parents too lazy to give them a good engagement which will actually develop them.
utkarsh858··on Senate to Vote on Web Censorship Bill Disguised as Kids Safety
Amazing!

This article is fast to make a conclusion of its own and make sure that the reader is swayed with a negative opinion. But not everyone will (hopefully) fall for that.

Kids should be kept far from any kind of sexual or predatory content, if not what will lead to life long trauma. What I see today is that small kids being heavily addicted to social media, reels, tiktoks and what not. Many (90% today) I see become so restless if smartphone is snatched away for a moment. Atleast this will (or rather can) protect them from worst but of course more can be done.

utkarsh858··on What Is Entropy?
Thanks for the reference will take some time before I see the whole video. Can you tell me what those quantum fluctuations are in short? Are they part of some physical law?
utkarsh858··on What Is Entropy?
Yes but what will intimate that perturbation?
utkarsh858··on What Is Entropy?
I sometimes ponder where new entropy/randomness is coming from, like if we take the earliest state of universe as an infinitely dense point particle which expanded. So there must be some randomness or say variety which led it to expand in a non uniform way which led to the dominance of matter over anti-matter, or creation of galaxies, clusters etc. If we take an isolated system in which certain static particles are present, will there be the case that a small subset of the particles will get motion and this introduce entropy? Can entropy be induced automatically, atleast on a quantum level? If anyone can help me explain that it will be very helpful and thus can help explain origin of universe in a better way.

utkarsh858··on A landscape of consciousness: Toward a taxonomy of explanations and implications
> testable predictions

In 1970, an experiment was conducted where a monkey's head was implanted into another monkey's body. The monkey did gained consciousness but was not able to move it's new body( I can barely imagine the pain it must have been feeling). If the possibility that the center of consciousness is completely independent of the body, I will say that the even though another monkey's head has been transplanted it will still have the consciousness and recognition of current body.

>Mysteriously never been observed

Was Higgs boson ever observed before 2012? Was it's theory ever proposed before 1964? Were people criticizing the attempt to discover it as 'magic particles mysteriously never observed'?

>Don't interact with matter

Yes those 'magic particles' can interact with matter through the curtain of probability and chances. The neurons firing inside a brain and subsequent signals passing to adjacent neurons are probabilistic. To direct the way a certain group of neurons towards a certain activity one has to tweak those probabilities, which can be changed via influence of external fields.

>Nice story

That's not a story but philosophy :) Vedic philosophy knew about the concept of atoms which it called 'anu' given by Kanad and it stated group of atoms as 'paramanu', way before Dalton proposed it.

utkarsh858··on A landscape of consciousness: Toward a taxonomy of explanations and implications
Vedic philosophy has an interesting take on the problem of consciousness.

It take consciousness to be emanating from particles the size of atoms. They word those atomic particles as 'atma' ( in english souls, some even call it spiriton!).Those particles are fundamental to the universe and indivisible like quarks, bosons etc. Like radiation emanating from sun, it handles consciousness as 'emanating' from soul.

Each and every living being starting from size of a cell has a soul feeling (partially) about mechanisms of its body. A multi-cellular organism is then explained as a universe in itself where millions of cells with souls are thriving. The organism will then contain a 'chief soul' directing the working of whole body (which will be us case of humans). Further the philosophy expands this concept to the real universe in which all organisms with their individual consciousness are directed by a chief 'super consciousness'( in Vedic terminology it is termed as paramatma, some translate that as equal to God Concept) Although then it further expands by saying that there are infinite (almost) parallel universes but that's other thing...

I can't trust the linguistic estimates fully as they are vague and are prone to many assumptions and approximations in their calculations. Just like change of stance of Max Muller, such estimations change depending on whether much older antiquities have been excavated or not. Like RigVeda described Saraswati during its time as alive.( I was mistaken that river dried in 5000bc, it dried around 3000bc to 2000bc ). It's only a matter of time since new evidence are discovered that pushes such estimates further back in time. What they do very well imply that certain developments happened a 'minimum' of years ago. Authorship's mention of time as in rig veda cannot be completely discarded out of consideration.
utkarsh858··on Aboriginal ritual passed down over 12,000 years, cave find shows
One correction guys, river had started drying around 4000 years ago and took 500-1000 years to dry completely.

Thanks for the clarification! I was referencing from an archaeological website of India and had confused BP with BC along with many other things:P
utkarsh858··on Aboriginal ritual passed down over 12,000 years, cave find shows
The river itself dried in around ~5000BC. The text attributed itself as being authored in 3000BC. The idea that text was written in 1500BC (3500 years ago) was proposed by Max Muller which was contested by his contemporary western and Indian scholars alike ( they proposed earlier dates) In his late life, Max himself admitted that the dates he gave were hypothetical, they were to considered minimum and it could actually be more than that.

The people who follow this tradition of oral recitation where trained from childhood in a special school (kind of boarding) where certain values facilitating the lossless transfer of meaning like truthfulness, honesty etc, were imbibed deep into students. It was strictly not allowed to edit (add or subtract) the original verses( if one does so he/she can write another book). After certain years has passed by, only those who were capable enough and 'morally' qualified were authorised to become teachers and pass on the knowledge. Even today in some places in India(not so rampant as in like 100 years ago) the same culture is followed.
utkarsh858··on Aboriginal ritual passed down over 12,000 years, cave find shows
In India, there is a custom of passing ancient knowledge through poetic verses. Every poetic verses is sung in a specific 'meter'. If there is a discrepancy in recitation then remembering and passing knowledge 'letter by letter' can not succeed. Many of the verses are thousands of years old. I read some describing an ancient extinct river ~7000 years ago, later rediscovered through satellite imagery (don't know the right term).
utkarsh858··on Are animals conscious? New research
In Indian culture, various species were regarded as being on a certain place in a spectrum of consciousness. Vedic literatures regarded even plants as beings who can have feelings. From zero (a rock) to almost 100% (a human) differentiation of species was primarily based on level of consciousness (bodily features as another factor, ofcourse) and interestingly, according to philosophy, selection of a specific species depended on a living entities 'karma', one gets a body with a certain level of consciousness according to the 'good' or 'bad' deeds one does in ones life.

Yes they have free will but it is covered to the extent that it mostly acts mechanically.

In its current life it may not have the intelligence to act morally. But once( before it became a caterpillar ) it had a body of moral sentiment being with power of discrimination. It made bad choices at that time and thus induced suffering in current life.

utkarsh858··on A Planet of Parasites and the Problem with God
Not karmically neutral. They can not produce new reactions but consume older ones.

Once its bad reactions( because of which he had to take a life form with so little consciousness ) are over it can get a new form with more intelligence.

Soul never takes a form, it is distinct from matter. Dull matter takes the form. It only 'directs' matter. After old body is destroyed it gets a new body.

Not just a philosopher of Jainism, there were many many philosophers from different strands of eastern philosophy(Sanatana Dharma, Jainism, Buddhism) and that too with many details.
utkarsh858··on A Planet of Parasites and the Problem with God
1) Sanatana Dharma, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism they all have the concept of karma. 2) Yes!, It has lots and lots of description and details behind karma and ourselves.
utkarsh858··on A Planet of Parasites and the Problem with God
You are right caterpillar, and similar beings dont have much choice, whatever they do they are mistly dictated by nature and they have to act accordingly. That is why there is no karma for them. They cannot create any karma or 'sin' BUT they can suffer the reactions of the bad karma they have done in past life (in a species when they actually had the intelligence to differentiate between right and wrong).

A crude example: A man torturing a caterpillar for fun, may have to take birth in a life of caterpillar and endure the same pain, either by a human or different species.

Thanks for the good question, am open to more.

1) not defending anything, just explaining what I know. 2) never heard of Swinburne. Natural evil is force for maturation and ALSO to uphold the principle of justice among all living beings. 3) No evil can harm a living being if he has not already bad stock of karma with him. And also God does not interfere with anyone's free will. If we are living with others then some laws will have to be followed.

Now you will ask that how did evil actually generate because in beginning there was no bad karma. The thing is that even the intention of harming someone and attempts can generate bad karma. Our mindset towardds others must be good.

4) Nah, in eastern philosophy even beginners know this, yeah but in east also very less people actually know about themselves!

5) Yes we have free will. If given two paths with one path we know as thousand times better than other path, Still by our free will we can choose the bad one. 6) Free will is necessary for love i.e. relationship with ourselves and God. Love is morality harming any sentinent being is not. 6) God is capable of evil but he/she(whatever) does not do it.

Karma does not negate biology, karma is a law which acts on 'subtler' platform than gross law of biology. pleaseure and suffering decided according to law of karma is manifested by biology(through chance and probabilities)!

Thanks for such wonderful questions, am open to more.

utkarsh858··on A Planet of Parasites and the Problem with God
I did not read the whole articles but from few paragraphs I can understand that it is stating about 'problem of evil' that believers face.

Actually this problem is faced only by western religious philosophy which is not wrong but have an incomplete conception of universe.

Eastern philosophy states that God has created this world along with certain rules with which everyone should abide by i.e. 'law of karma'. Anyone who acts or tries to act in such a way as to harm any other living being will have to suffer reactions of his 'sin' either in this life or next life. And when that suffering is perceived it is termed as evil. But actually our acts are evil which come back as life lessons to help us introspect and improve ourselves. And this system given by God is a manifestation of his love else we may all have already be converted to Sickle wielding terrorists bent on taking each others flesh.

(Of course above is a very brief description, there is much more to it)

This is not spontaneous, all the parameters have to be carefully tweaked to get some tangible stable complex structures. Also initial set of parameters are 20 which is not simple! Compared to that the complex structure is not much complex.
