user2342··on Why does the USA use 110V and UK use 230-240V? (2014)
> I have heard a three phase residential connection is common in some parts of Germany, lucky bastards.

Not some parts. It's common in all parts of Germany - and I think even common on the whole EU.

user2342··on It's official: Smartphones will need to have replaceable batteries by 2027
> I always wondered why Apple didn't achieve this at the time and had to remove headphone port and home button to make it water resistant.

They didn't do this for water proof iPhones - that were lame excuses. They removed e.g. the headphone jack early to increase incentives to adopot (the then future) Airpods.

Thanks. I have the printed book, but a PDF is much more comfortable!
user2342··on BBEdit is 30 years old as a commercial product
Bought my first license of BBedit a few minutes ago (impulses I can't control).

I don't know yet what to to with it, but I will probably explore writing language modes for it. I used to do this for Sublime Text, but I think Sublime lost its Mojo at the point of not adding native support for language servers.

user2342··on Moving from Rust to C++
Agree. I'm also bored by most of these jokes.

As I understood it, the subscription for the beta is optional and intended to support development until the first release. I would expect a more traditional license model with the release version.
user2342··on The Sad State of Logging Bugs for Apple
Yes, I also gave up more or less. I recently had a problem with AppKit, created a small example to reproduce, and used one of my Developer Incidents. I got an acknowledgement from them, was asked to open a radar, and provide the ticket number back. I did that but from that point on on there was silence. It may be possible that it will be fixed for 10.15, but the experience from my point of view is lousy.

Yes, I could reproduce this easily.
