I'm honestly kinda amazed this as upvoted here as it is. Typically anything ML-related is upvoted to the top positions and any dissent harshly ridiculed. Anyways... it appears those who thought about this as if it was a glorified code search engine were close to being right.
This site should be called Hipster News. I feel like the more obscure a project is, the higher the chance you'll see it on HN. Meanwhile, the bread and butter of regular programmers (c#/php/java) gets barely any mention here (and when it does, it's for major lang releases and it's typically poopooed hard) and you basically see ZERO threads about the news from within these huge ecosystems.
And just to add to this, from a certain level (revenue) that's not that high (and depends on idividual states) you need a presence (VAT registration) and a business bank account in the country you're selling your services/goods in, even if you're not actually located there. E.g. a medium sized online shop based in the Czech Republic that is shipping to Hungary. Now imagine this if you're shipping to many EU states... not great.
