ungruntled··on Google’s AI-powered ‘inclusive warnings’ feature is very broken
Someone somewhere will be concerned by the literal words you speak, or the way you say it, or what you actually meant, intended or unintended. They will do it with good intentions or not, and no meaningful discussion will occur because it would be shorter, cost nothing, and offend no-one if you just let them win.
ungruntled··on Almost 37 years after its launch, someone found an Easter egg in Windows 1.0
Any site that hijacks the back button to show you ads is similar to a creep locking you briefly in a room so you ‘consider’ their offer.
ungruntled··on School closures led to more sleep and better quality of life for adolescents
I think the post was clear as to which meaning they were referring to. I would also argue that ‘slow’ is frequently used in the same way as one the one that you are concerned with.
ungruntled··on Can’t Find an N95 Mask? This Company Has 30M That It Can’t Sell
I have 3 different brands of what are claimed to be KN95 masks. All do not fit in different ways. All use plastic nose bends, ear loops and either air comes out sides, chin, or nose area. I have 3M trifold N95s from before the pandemic and those fit perfectly without significant effort. The nose area uses metal and dense foam to ensure seal. I think the main seal issue with KN95s is that they are thin, flimsy and are missing some basic features like the foam, metal nose piece and head band.

CE, as far as I can tell, is self certified. Meaning that any company can simply register in the EU and slap the logo on their product. Otherwise, in the US, the same thing happens with FDA registration. Mask companies claim FDA approval when they mean that they simply have registered their product. Registration does not imply approval or certification, its means that the company declares its selling goods of a certain type. I’ve had the issue of mask sellers even provide bogus registration information for unrelated product categories.
ungruntled··on Air pollution linked to higher risk of irreversible sight loss
For my apartment, highest polluters include: dishwasher heating cycle, cooking, neighbor cigarette smoke, and air leaking in from main door. Adding weather stripping on the main door has substantially reduced the ambient pollution levels of my unit.
ungruntled··on The Teeniest Tiniest Laptop in the West
I have GPD P2 Max, the keyboard is ok for typing letters, but punctuation requires special key combos, and symbols used in programming like brackets underscores, commas, plus, equals, etc also have unusual key combos. I’ve been unable to use it for any meaningful programming work.

The fan is also loud even on quiet mode settings. You need to underclock it to reduce fan speed to what my opinion is comfortable for working in a quiet room.

ungruntled··on TinyTV DIY Kit
The tiny circuits forum seems to have an issue where opening a link to it when searching on google leads to a spam site selling viagra. I searched for “tiny circuits forum bootloader”.

I tried to inform them on their forum, but I didnt want to create an account. So hopefully they will see it here.

ungruntled··on Letter from Raspberry Pi Foundation over trademark use
I'm not sure what the right reaction should be from the Foundation, but as as someone who has only seen the official website a couple of times, I wouldn't have noticed that the community website wasn't an official one.
ungruntled··on Skype rolls back its redesign by ditching stories and squiggles
On the general Microsoft account issue, my Skype account I had for 10+ years also became inaccessable after a random criminal linked their Microsoft account to my Skype account to make fraudulent transactions. After trying to get my skype account back using the account recovery form, I realized that even though I should have had enough answers to successfully recover the account that it was failing probably because all the answers were now being checked against the criminal’s Microsoft account instead of my Skype account.

No amount of customer support chatting or Microsoft supoort calling could get that account back, or even get someone to investigate the fraud. I suppose that Skype makes money off these transactions so why bother to stop it.
