ultrafez··on Noise Protection for Short Term and Vacation Rentals
I imagine that you could build a functional equivalent with an ESP8266, a power adapater, and a Twilio account - no server required, since you should be able to measure volume directly on the ESP8266 itself. The parts would cost you less than $20 - probably less than $10.
ultrafez··on Show HN: Remember – A progressive Todo app
To get the react-scripts command, you'll need to globally install the react-scripts package with:

npm install -g react-scripts

ultrafez··on Show HN: Primitive for macOS
I don't see why that wouldn't be possible, it likely wouldn't run in realtime though.
ultrafez··on Upgrading Autopilot: Seeing the World in Radar
It's perplexing to me that to own something, you must agree to a contract.
ultrafez··on Show HN: A Bot to Deploy to AWS, Digital Ocean Etc.
Docker's fairly easy to get your head around in a few hours if you do a bit of reading. It's being used as a base tool for more and more projects now, so I'd definitely recommend having an understanding of how it works at a basic level, at least.
ultrafez··on Taking Over DigitalOcean Domains via a Lax Domain Import System
I was affected by this - I lost some credit that I had remaining from the Github Student Pack due to it expiring with relatively short notice. If I open a support ticket, will I be able to ask to get that credit back?
ultrafez··on Ask HN: How do you create productive habits?
Putting off or tasking someone else with jobs you don't want to do doesn't seem like the healthiest long-term strategy.
ultrafez··on Apple Pay on the Web
Well there's a surprise.
ultrafez··on Visa: Some merchants see dip in fraud thanks to chip cards
I believe it's down to how your bank sets up your card, and how the retailer's set up. In the UK, when I pay with my debit card at Tesco, after entering my PIN it instantly says I can remove my card. Apparently it's because the card reader skips communicating with my bank until they cash up at the end of the day (the "available balance" of my card doesn't reduce after shopping there until the next day). Tesco is the only retailer where I've seen the card work almost instantaneously, but I expect that NFC payments work that way every time.
ultrafez··on System Bus Radio
Working on a mid-2012 15" non-retina MBP. I was able to pick up the tune on various frequencies, starting around 650khz and on various other bands right up to around 1500khz (my radio's upper limit).

If you're being picky, then I can be picky too: the concept of a "pull request" isn't defined in that manpage, only the command "request-pull" is. A "pull request" is an entity in itself.

The command may exist within git, but it's not a part of most people's git workflows. "Pull Request" is a term that's far more commonly attributed-to and associated with tools like GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc.

Did you know that git has the ability to send patches via email, built in [1]? Git has a lot of functions that the majority of people don't use.

ultrafez··on Meet Model X
For a car that you never use because choosing to driving in London is a questionable choice.
ultrafez··on Node v4.0.0
If you include io.js, sure. Node did technically jump considerably.
ultrafez··on React Color – Color Pickers from Sketch, Photoshop, Chrome and More
"dependency hell" is a bit of an exaggeration. It has one dependency.
ultrafez··on Show HN: I Made a Website to Crowdsource the Best WFH Excuses
This has to be the simplest React app I've seen yet :)

(not having a go - just made me chuckle!)

ultrafez··on How to clone Agar.io
Documents like this are fantastic as a potential collaborator.
ultrafez··on Hub Git Wrapper
You could submit a pull request to hub to fix it!

Perhaps not using hub to do so, though.

ultrafez··on DIY FPGA-based HDMI ambient lighting
Have a look at this: http://lightpack.tv/
ultrafez··on Critical Vulnerabilities in JSON Web Token Libraries
If you change your algorithm, your old tokens are still usable because you know which algorithm was used to create them.
ultrafez··on Firefox Hello
I haven't tested it, but https://appear.in/ seems to do what you're describing.
ultrafez··on WhatsApp doesn't understand the web
I've paid for it once, but before that I had at least two extensions, and since I paid I've had one extension.
ultrafez··on Intel Compute Stick
It's not really an excuse to waste more resources though. Saying "this only wastes a tiny amount of resources compared to this other thing" isn't justification to waste it anyway.
ultrafez··on Introducing Google Cast for audio
It's disappointing that we are in the situation where we have several competing protocols for streaming audio - Google Cast, AirPlay, Spotify Connect, UPnP/DLNA.

As a society we are capable of making software and hardware that interoperate among manufacturers - email and HTTP are good examples. We could be a far more technologically advanced world if capitalism didn't encourage companies to create competing closed-source protocols that only benefit the companies themselves, to the detriment of everyone else.

ultrafez··on Skipping fsck during boot with systemd?
Some would already argue systemd is already fsckd.
ultrafez··on Workflow for iOS
Did iOS 8 add something that allowed this app to be created? Tasker has existed on Android for years, so I assume that there had to be a technical limitation as to why a comparable app wasn't created for iOS.
ultrafez··on Communication App Works without a Cellular Network
Is this new? FireChat does exactly this - chat over an ad-hoc mesh network - and that came out months ago, maybe even a year ago.
ultrafez··on Cue – Discover yourself
I thought that was questionable too. Why was there a prescription to pick up to treat a viral infection, which there is no treatment for?
ultrafez··on Cue – Discover yourself
The sample wands and cartridges are single use - see the FAQ page: https://cue.me/faq
ultrafez··on You can't win the game, it exists only to destroy your mind
It's hard to win the game when you can't determine what the goal is.
ultrafez··on The New Messenger App from Google
While it's not built-in to Android, the app Glympse does exactly this.
