ugh123··on Major AI conference flooded with peer reviews written by AI
How do you discern between papers "completely fabricated" by AI vs. edited by AI for grammar?
ugh123··on OpenAI needs to raise at least $207B by 2030
> None of them except me has Gemini or Claude app.

Do they use Google docs/sheets? Or even Google Search anywhere? Then they have Gemini integrated in some way

ugh123··on Mozilla says it's finally done with Onerep
> Onerep’s founder had created dozens of people-search services

How in the world was this not considered fraud, or in the very least - breach of contract?

ugh123··on One Handed Keyboard
Agreed! Check out "scrubby" video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bLyZ7gkurv4
ugh123··on Spec-Driven Development: The Waterfall Strikes Back
>Coding assistants are intimidating: instead of an IDE full of familiar menus and buttons, developers are left with a simple chat input.

>How can we ensure that the code is correct with so little guidance?

Easy, diff and test the code yourself after each run.

ugh123··on AI World Clocks
Hmm, curious. How did you come up with that?
ugh123··on AI World Clocks
Cool, and marginally informative on the current state of things. but kind of a waste of energy given everything is re-done every minute to compare. We'd probably only need a handful of each to see the meaningful differences.
ugh123··on My dad could still be alive, but he's not
>my dad is dead, because his family members were too naive to know that the thing they were instructed to do by the state was a false thing.

We're told a lot of things by "officials" not because it's correct, but because it holds the least legal liability for official parties involved, especially anything involving healthcare. These officials also sometimes include doctors, who work to protect themselves and the system first, and then patients.

ugh123··on AI isn't replacing jobs. AI spending is
100%
ugh123··on OpenDesk – a flexible all-in-one office suite for the public sector
Can you help me understand how this compares to Google and Microsoft Suite, both in look and features? The site doesn't show much
ugh123··on Ask HN: Which agentic AI code assistant is more future proof?
The CLI style agents will survive longer than IDE-integrated agents
ugh123··on Why aren't smart people happier?
You're kidding that it's hard to attribute which skills made Donald Trump successful, right? Born rich, lies and steals in business dealings is all there is to it.
ugh123··on NY school phone ban has made lunch loud again
That just sounds like lazy teacher discipline in class. Decades ago we couldn't even use calculators on some tests, but now (or up until recently) they could practically have a computer in their hands all class?
ugh123··on US startup Substrate announces chipmaking tool that it says will rival ASML
This is 100% a scam or vaporware. What a waste of investment dollars.
ugh123··on Man spent 200 days building a solar-powered explorer yacht that can run forever
Most important number is missing: how much did it cost to make?
ugh123··on Ask HN: How to deal with long vibe-coded PRs?
Are there tests written? You could start by demanding tests pass and demonstrate some kind of coverage metric.
ugh123··on Show HN: MyTimers.app offline-first PWA with no build step and zero dependencies
Are you referring to the Pomodoro "business" and their trademarks? I actually thought it was just for use of the name 'Pomodoro'
ugh123··on Tongyi DeepResearch – open-source 30B MoE Model that rivals OpenAI DeepResearch
Slightly off topic but why does word wrapping seem to be broken in this site? Chrome on Android
ugh123··on Uncertainty Persists for Americans Waiting for Monthly Food Stamps
This is part of the plan for Trump to declare marshall law and force a third term for himself
ugh123··on Pomelli
Sounds like a bug?
ugh123··on Hard Rust requirements from May onward
>It's important for the project as whole to be able to move forward and rely on modern tools and technologies and not be held back by trying to shoehorn modern software on retro computing devices.

Loved this statement on the state of modern software using the backbone of C (in linux and elsewhere)

ugh123··on S.A.R.C.A.S.M: Slightly Annoying Rubik's Cube Automatic Solving Machine
I think this is an amazing all around build combining the physical mechanics for solving (a relatively understood problem in rubik's robot solving scene) but along with the graphics integration and some real personality from the bot avatar that gave me quite a few laughs. Well done!
ugh123··on Israel demanded Google and Amazon use secret 'wink' to sidestep legal orders
That now makes two of U.S.
ugh123··on 1X Neo – Home Robot - Pre Order
We need Robot Olympics for household chores
ugh123··on What we talk about when we talk about sideloading
Perhaps the author is speaking purely from a "consumer" point of view, rather than developer/pro types who of course can bypass restrictions using common dev tools.

I believe f-droid strives to be a simple platform of from-source builds for non-Googled apps that anyone can use.

ugh123··on Trader who made $190M shorting crash also apparently bet on CZ's pardon
Someone check his connections to DJTJ
ugh123··on Roc Camera
From these pics it actually looks like a whole PI4 board is used https://farcaster.xyz/faust
ugh123··on Computer science courses that don't exist, but should (2015)
Not really "computer science" topics, but useful nonetheless.
ugh123··on Trump pardons convicted Binance founder
Are you equating Trump's pardons and commutations to Bidens? For review, Biden's were largely for non-violent drug offenders and preemptive pardons for people like Anthony Fauci and federal employees prosecuting Jan 6 defendants and the like. Save for his pardon of his son Hunter (who's own prosecution was littered with politics), Biden's were largely pedestrian.

Financed through purchases of the President's own crypto coin
